"When people encounter difficulties, as long as they concentrate their strength and unite, they can overcome difficulties and create miracles." At that time, the people of Linzhou used the simple tools made in the harsh environment, combined with the very traditional and laborious construction process, and in the past decade, they persevered in building a canal that flowed slowly along the steep cliffs, which was a brave, tenacious and great thing. I have developed heartfelt admiration and reverence for the great project of 'Hongqi Canal', and I hope that more people can resonate with me. ”

Such words came from the pen of a German. The German, named Quint Kwonsholiz, was a professional German painter and picture book writer. In March this year, he and his wife, picture book writer and painting educator Wan Yuxi, jointly published the picture book "Artificial Tianhe - China's Red Flag Canal". He made his heartfelt remarks in the article "The Great Project of China that Deeply Shocked Me".

Since then, they have begun to search for information, done a lot of research on it, and with the friendly help of the China Children's Press and Publication Corporation and the relevant departments of the Linzhou Municipal Government, they visited Hongqiqu again in 2018 to collect on-the-spot style.
