It is well known that the sequences of four nucleotides (bases) in RNA determine the sequence of 20 amino acids in a protein molecule. The probability of these 19 bases appearing in the virus is four to the nineteenth power, which is one in three hundred billion.
Based on the above findings, they believe that the possibility of the new crown virus coming from the US company Modena is extremely high.
The study has caused widespread controversy in academic circles, with many opponents and many supporters.
Opposition: Organisms are very complex, taking the human body as an example, different proteins exercise different physiological functions, and their amino acid sequences will have very large differences, hundreds of thousands or even tens of thousands. In a very large natural gene database, it is normal to find the same sequence during the comparison process, and the genetic sequence of 19 bases is not rigorous enough to be considered conclusive evidence.

In summary, it is not yet possible to determine whether the new crown virus is a "natural disaster" or a "man-made disaster", and more conclusive evidence is needed to argue. But at this sensitive time, the American company Modena should be further explained by the questions raised in the paper.
