The new Regulations on the Protection of Underwater Cultural Relics came into effect on 1 April

In the vast waters of the mainland, there are also many known and undiscovered precious underwater cultural relics and sites. The revised Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Underwater Cultural Relics will come into effect on 1 April. Compared with the regulations issued and implemented in 1989, it proceeds from reality, fully considers the particularity of the protection of underwater cultural relics, improves relevant institutional measures in a targeted manner, solves the outstanding problems in the practice of underwater cultural relics protection, and connects with laws, administrative regulations and relevant national provisions such as the Cultural Relics Protection Law.
