The Communications Workers Association (CWA) recently announced a game called Super Anti-Union Campaign Simulator, which hopes to draw attention to the harsh working conditions in the game development industry, and the game is made by former Activision Blizzard employees who exposed a series of related scandals last year.
The game is in the style of 2D cartoons, you play a black cat, working in a certain game studio, where the working environment is harsh, not only long working hours and often overtime, but also facing various workplace bullying and harassment, your purpose is to publicize the various benefits of the union, encourage employees to join, and fight for higher wages and a better environment. The game's villains are some red-eyed demon-like guys, representing capitalists, who will continue to trip the player and destroy the union.
"We launched the game to promote union organizations against anti-union companies like Activision Blizzard, whose employees have been protesting over the past year against sexual harassment and discrimination they have been subjected to." The CWA writes.
Unions are a very powerful force in the United States, and the CWA has for years hoped to expand its influence into the video game industry. Just this month, the CWA asked the FTC to review Microsoft's acquisition proposal for Activision Blizz, focusing on ActiBlizz's past campaign to block unionization. CWA also supports a bill proposed by U.S. Senator Warren that would ban mergers that would lead to environmentally competitiveness.
