She struggled to hold up the cradle of China's space dream, but because she was too busy at work, she lost her little daughter.

In 1953, at the age of 42, she gave birth to her youngest daughter, Zhang Kejian, but at that time, she only rested for 28 days to go to work for the construction of Beihang Airlines.

After that, Xiao Kejian suffered from a serious cold, and after being sent to the hospital, he died of overdose.

At that time, her heart was aching and she was about to suffocate, but the preparation of Beihang was still at a critical juncture, and she was still shouldering the huge mission of the country.

So gritting her teeth, the mother who lost her young daughter returned to the front line of work strongly, and her grief did not mention a word, turning all her heartache into a driving force to continue to dedicate herself to the mother of the motherland.

In 1959, she had always wanted to build an airplane for the motherland, and finally looked forward to the moment when she dreamed of taking off, and the central government allocated 150,000 yuan to Beihang Airlines to study the light passenger aircraft project.

She devoted herself day and night to the end, personally teaching sticky aerodynamics courses, but this dream also died so quickly and suddenly.

In 1966, when she returned to China, she saved 750 grams of platinum for a German friend who opposed the Nazis.

After that, whether it was war or poverty, she did not move at all, and carefully preserved it until it was returned to its original owner.

But her righteous act of "inserting a knife in both ribs" for her friend became her crime: smuggling strategic materials out of the country.

After that, all her work was stopped, her husband was sent to a farm in Jiangxi to raise pigs, her home was raided, her salary was suspended, and the family was arranged to move into several other families.

Even so, she was particularly optimistic.

In the summer of 1967, her daughter Zhang Kequn returned home to find her sweater and sweating hot.

Fast forward to December 1968, when Guo Yonghuai, a major physicist involved in the atomic bomb project, was hit by a plane crash on his way back from Qinghai to Beijing.

When the plane crashed, Guo Yonghuai and the guard Mou Fangdong hugged each other and sandwiched important hydrogen bomb test data between the two, after which the documents were well preserved, and Guo Yonghuai was completely unrecognizable...

And because of Guo Yonghuai's sudden death, the original plan for him to translate into Chinese, Plante's German work "Introduction to Fluid Mechanics", also had to stop.

However, the importance of this book to China's aerospace industry is self-evident, and the key moment is that she is desperate to step forward: please leave it to me, I will complete it.

Behind just eight words is an unimaginably heavy burden, and it is quite difficult to know that this academic work is as many as 550,000 words, translating German into Chinese.

At that time, during the Cultural Revolution, she was already nearly sixty years old, but she still did not hesitate to say: "I am old, and the dream of building an airplane cannot be realized, but I can leave this knowledge to the next generation." ”

After that, she was in a cottage of a few square meters, accepting the transformation while insisting on translation.
