Benchmarking the Porsche Macan? Maserati's new SUV Grecale is officially released

It is currently a 48V light hybrid version and a traditional internal combustion engine version, and it will also have a pure electric version in the future.

On March 22, Maserati officially unveiled the new SUV Grecale, which Maserati has been warming up until 2020, and Maserati is also promoting the electrification strategy, "this new model will play an important role in the future development of the brand".

The final Grecale, designed by the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena, Italy, and produced at the Cassino plant in Italy, will be available in several powertrain versions, including traditional combustion engines and hybrid assemblies, and then it will also be available in an all-electric version – the first 100% pure electric SUV in Maserati's history.

After the debut of the pure electric version, the Grecale will also become the most complete product series maserati has ever seen.

△ Grecale GT version

The Grecale still has a Maserati family-style body design, with a recognizable front face with a low grille position, and a dynamic body line extending to the rear of the car with "boomerang" shaped taillights. In terms of the GT version, its body length is 4846mm, the wheelbase is 2901mm, the space is still spacious, and the first few colors are also quite bright and sporty.

The interior also reflects the brand's consistent emphasis on Italian luxury and technology. This time it has the digital clock elements that Maserati has used in the car for the first time, and it is equipped with a 12.3-inch central control screen (the largest screen Maserati has ever deployed in a car), an 8.8-inch comfort function control panel and a rear seat touch screen for rear passengers. The Grecale series comes standard with a 14-unit sound system (also available as a 21-unit option).

In terms of technology, Grecale is equipped with Maserati Intelligent Assist (MIA) multimedia system, the latest generation of infotainment system and Maserati Connect, which is also a centralized review of Maserati's technological progress in the new era.

It also features vehicle dynamic control (VDCM) and a choice of 5 driving modes including COMFORT Comfort, GT, SPORT Sport, OFF-ROAD Off-Road and CORSA Track (available in the Trofeo version).

△ Grecale Modena edition

This time, Maserati released a total of 3 versions of the Grecale: the Grecale GT version is equipped with a four-cylinder light hybrid engine with a maximum output of 300 horsepower; the Grecale Modena version is also a four-cylinder light hybrid with a maximum output of 330 horsepower; the Grecale Trofeo version is equipped with a V6 engine with a maximum output of 530 horsepower.

The first two 48V Mild Hybrid models have 5.3 and 5.6 seconds of 100 km/h acceleration, respectively, and their top speed is 240 km/h, while the Grecale Trofeo version can accelerate 3.8 seconds to 100 km/h and 285 km/h.

The later all-electric version will be the Grecale Forgole, which supports 400V technology with an 800 Nm motor and a 105 kWh battery. This time Maserati did not publish more information about it.

△ Grecale Trofeo version

In general, although Grecale is lower than Levante from the perspective of positioning, it has a unique identity, it has the meaning of inheriting the past, it integrates the technology that Maserati can currently do, and also concentrates the brand's current latest concept and understanding, after which it will also directly promote the brand's process in pure trams.

For consumers, this is actually an interesting option, the current pricing of Grecale has not yet been announced, but the industry expects it to be the same as the Porsche Macan (or even slightly lower) - if this is the case, students who are tired of seeing the "street car" Macan (especially female owners) may be able to set their sights on Grecale, in terms of creating a sense of luxury, Maserati is much better than the entry Porsche.
