Ming Dynasty pottery jars

【Text】

Villagers in Shuiwu Village, Pingyuan County, Shandong Province, have always kept a pottery jar from the Ming Dynasty Wanli Period.

This pottery vessel is huge, the mouth edge is open, the bottom foot circle is full, the space is small, if the size of a saucer, the cylinder body is engraved with many irregular stripes, the appearance is a little strange, if it is not seen in person, it is hard to believe.

According to the villagers, in 1969, when the grave leveling movement was carried out, many people went to the grave of a local celebrity to dig bricks and take them home to the courtyard wall. He happened to dig up a clay pot and took it home by the way, leaving it in the corner of the courtyard, well preserved.

In the western half of the water village of Pingyuan County, there is a Ming Dynasty tomb group, which is the family tomb of the local Ming Dynasty Wanli Jinshi and Yang Shiqiu. Yang Shilu, a jinshi in the seventeenth year of the Wanli Calendar, was later directly subordinate to Miyunzhi County for five years, and because of his outstanding political achievements, he took the criminal section to shizhong, and the later supplementary official section to shizhong, all of which were given to shizhong. The "Plain County Chronicle" records: "The tomb of Yang Shiquan, the western half of the town of Shuiwu. ”

Although the clay pot is not a valuable burial object, it is also very characteristic of the times.

It is said that copper mirrors, green glazed porcelain vases, porcelain plates, and money making have also been unearthed in the Yang family tomb group, but none of them have been preserved.

The Yang family tomb group in the Ming Dynasty has been seriously damaged, the situation is worrying, if you do not take measures to protect it as soon as possible, I am afraid that soon, this ancient tomb group of more than 400 years will completely disappear.
