Amazing feat! New York City is being recreated by nearly 3,000 players in Minecraft

As COVID-19 sweeps the globe, more or less affected around the world, people need to stay at home as much as possible, willingly and unwillingly. As time at home increases, people naturally spend more time online. Many players take advantage of this time to start trying some "big projects" in the game that they have not tried because of lack of time. According to foreign media reports, 3,000 players are recreating New York City in Minecraft in a 1:1 ratio, and they have already reached a considerable scale.

The following is a partial presentation of the project:

The project was led by a German MineCraft player named MineFact. Two years ago, a player named PippenFTS showed his idea for a 1:1 project to rebuild the Earth, and MineFact learned of it, combined his idea with "Building the Earth" and recruited a number of like-minded players to work with him. His team now has 2,731 members, and the team he leads is also the largest team in the "Build the Earth" project at the time, and in just two years they have made incredible progress, which can be said to be playing a small game to a new height.

1:1 recreate the scene

The project lasted two years, and they built the city in short time and mobile sprints. Although it is much easier to build in the game than in reality, it is still very difficult to achieve. So in the case of rebuilding entire cities, they also give themselves a reasonable limit: they will only make the appearance of buildings. However, some public places, such as the interior of Grand Central Station, are also slightly built in pursuit of better authenticity.

But even so, at the current rate, it is quite difficult to restore the entire city 100%, which includes about a million buildings, and it will take years or even decades.

Several of the core creators on the team, including Minefact, said they hadn't actually been to New York City, but Minefact said at the end that they would go together one day, but they probably wouldn't get lost the first time they got there, after all, they "created" the whole city together.

Some netizens began to discuss, some said "no meaning at all, boring", others said "this kind of feat can give participants a sense of achievement and gain". In my opinion, the impetuous handling of blocks is meaningless in itself, and even boring. But when everyone has a goal, wants to create it, and starts working on it, it is given meaning. If it were you in front of the screen, what would you think?
