Paper-cutting is a folk art that uses scissors to cut patterns on paper and is used to decorate life. Paper-cutting has a broad mass base, cutting patterns, cutting window flowers, cutting jade tigers, sending blessings, one knife and one paper, one red and one shadow, blending into the production and life of the people.
In Xiangyun, I often see Pu Hanbing, a "post-90s" paper-cutting inheritor, who often travels back and forth between schools and villages, sparing no effort to insist on teaching paper-cutting art to students and the masses, which is praised by everyone.
Born in 1991, Pu Hanbing has loved paper-cutting since childhood, and at the age of six or seven, he learned to cut paper with his grandmother, and has insisted on it for more than 20 years, has been scissors non-stop, works continuously, involving animals, people, landscapes, costumes and other categories. Pu Hanbing took scissors and red paper whenever she had free time, and what was in the books and printed in the newspaper, she could cut it beautifully.
Pu Hanbing studied design in college, and after graduation, he went out to exchange and learn paper-cutting skills many times. Pu Hanbing holds scissors in her hand, creating tirelessly, opening her portfolio, you can see the evolution of her creative style, from the fine carving of traditional themes, to the innovative interpretation of characters and landscapes, each piece of paper cut reflects her ingenuity and love for art. She also held public welfare paper-cutting activities through non-heritage entry into the campus to teach paper-cutting skills to children and the masses, so that more people can understand paper-cutting. After continuous exploration and innovation, her paper-cutting works have been well received, and she has grown into a representative inheritor of the Xiangyun County Intangible Cultural Heritage Paper-cutting Project, and was selected as the training object of the "Xiaguang Project" for Cang'er Talents in Dali Prefecture.
During the Spring Festival in 2020, I saw the scene of front-line medical workers working selflessly and selflessly on TV, and the inner touch prompted Pu Hanbing to use 10 days to cut out a group of lifelike and beautiful paper-cut works, she said: "Many white-clad angels who rushed to Wuhan are about the same age as me, I was touched by their selfless work spirit, the same 'post-90s', I can't go to Wuhan to support like them, I can only use paper-cutting to portray the heroic image of the white-clad angels." The paper-cut works such as "Retrograde" that I created express the tall figure of the angel in white who is going backwards in order to save the new crown pneumonia patients. ”
During this year's Spring Festival, the Mascots of the Winter Olympic Games, "Ice Pier" and "Snow Rongrong", are deeply loved by everyone, and Pu Hanbing uses his own unique paper-cutting method to offer sincere blessings for the Winter Olympics. In the Xiangyun County Cultural Center, Pu Hanbing created a series of paper-cut works of "Ice Pier" and "Snow Rongrong". "My inner thought is to continue to pass on our paper-cutting skills from generation to generation, and we can't lose them."
