Ralf Brandst tter, CEO of Volkswagen's passenger car brand, said: "ID. Buzz will be another iconic product in the era of electric mobility, and it is also a product unique to Volkswagen. In the 1950s, the Volkswagen Bulli model represented a yearning for the popularity, autonomy and sentiment of the emerging vehicle. And ID. Buzz brings this lifestyle into our time: zero emissions, sustainability, full connectivity and a new chapter in the future – autonomous driving. By ID. Buzz, for the first time, we have achieved the concentrated embodiment of the core elements of the ACCELERATE strategy on a single product. ”

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle CEO Carsten Intra said: "Two IDs. Buzz is a pioneer in achieving sustainable mobility across the board, producing and delivering carbon neutral goals. In addition, we use recycled and synthetic materials, and the interior does not use leather products at all. Future, ID. Buzz will also be used for self-driving mobility services such as multi-person ride-sharing, which can be booked through the Group's MOIA software. The electric Bulli will be a new part of the future of city mobility. ”

ID. Buzz is based on Volkswagen's modular electric drive platform (MEB) and is produced at Volkswagen's commercial vehicle plant in Hanover. The new electrical and electronic architecture of the MEB platform makes it possible to continuously iterate software and technological functions that Volkswagen is able to provide for the ID. Buzz and all ID. models delivered offer OTA remote upgrades.

The new VERSION of the ID.software installed in the new car includes a new driver assistance system. ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo will come standard with the Car2X local traffic warning system, which will grasp the danger information in real time through signals shared by other vehicles and traffic facilities. Also standard is the Front Assist pre-crash safety system, and the MPV model also includes the Lane Assist lane keeping system. The Travel Assist full-speed driver assistance system based on group driving data is also an optional feature of the new system, which not only provides partial autonomous driving functions in the full-speed domain range, but also for the first time equipped with the highway automatic lane change assist system. In addition, the new "Memory Parking" feature enables automatic parking along pre-stored routes. By upgrading the new version of the ID.software, the ID.family will also have a new driver assistance system.

In terms of design, Volkswagen incorporated the design genes of the iconic T1 model of the 1950s into the ID. Buzz。 The highly recognizable LED headlights and V-shaped panels together form a distinctive front face design, and the optional two-tone body coating further accentuates the personality of the new car.

ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo's body size and spatial layout reflect Volkswagen's thoughtfulness. Both models have a compact body of 4,712 mm in length, with a very short front and rear overhang, while the wheelbase is up to 2,988 mm long, making the most of the interior space.

ID. Buzz has a spacious 5-seat layout and a 1,121-litre trunk that expands to 2,205 litres when the second row of seats is reclined. ID. Buzz Cargo can be equipped with two or three seats in the front row according to different user needs, and the front seat space and the 3.9 cubic meters of cargo compartment in the rear are separated by a fixed partition.

Models launched in Europe will be equipped with a 77 kWh battery pack that drives the rear axle with a maximum power of 150 kW. Thanks to the battery system at the bottom of the vehicle and the lightweight electric drive system, the vehicle has a balanced front and rear weight distribution and a very low center of gravity, resulting in better handling and agility.

Lithium-ion batteries can be charged with 11 kW AC through a charging wall box or a public charging pile. The DC fast charge of the European CCS standard charging port takes only 30 minutes to charge the vehicle's power from 5% to 80%. ID. Buzz will also offer a "plug and charge" function in the future, which enables automatic authorization of compatible DC fast charging stations via the charging interface of the ISO 15118 standard and automatic exchange of necessary data with the charging station. In addition, ID. Buzz also features two-way charging, where excess power from the vehicle's battery can be used to power the user's home grid (V2H) through a dedicated DC two-way charging wall box.

The two new cars will be produced at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' main plant in Hanover. Most IDs. The parts for the Buzz electric drive system module will be manufactured in Germany by the Volkswagen Group's components division. Both models are carbon-neutral in their production processes.

ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo will begin pre-sales in the European market in May and will officially go public this fall. The future, through ID. Buzz models, the Volkswagen Minibus, will also return to the U.S. and Canadian markets. (Baichuan)
