On September 30 last year, an authoritative academic work and general reference book on Wenzhou dialect, the Wenzhou Dialect Dictionary, was officially published. The Wenzhou dialect, which is known for its obscurity and difficulty, has finally become a dictionary through many difficulties, and behind it is the precipitation and cooperation of many linguists and professional editors represented by Shen Kecheng.
The Wenzhou dialect of "five different sounds, ten different tones" is called the "living fossil" in Old Chinese. In Shen Kecheng's view, this precisely reflects the research value of Wenzhou dialect. Over the years, Shen Kecheng has taken research, inheritance and dissemination as his own responsibility, edited the "Wenzhou Dialect Literature Integration", and successively published more than ten Wenzhou dialect monographs such as "Wenzhou Dialect", "Learning Wenzhou Dialect", "Wenzhou Dialect Word Interpretation" and so on.
In April 2019, the compilation of the Wenzhou Dialect Dictionary was officially launched. In order to let the Wenzhou dialect go out and let more people in Wenzhou hear the local pronunciation, Shen Kecheng gladly took over the task of editor-in-chief of the dictionary. He formed his own student team, invited several Wen linguistics masters as consultants, and relied on the "Wenzhou Studies" Documentation Center to jointly carry out this work. In just over two months, he and his team completed a 920,000-word first draft. On the basis of the first draft, Shen Kecheng continued to lead the team to write and study intently, and finally successfully completed the compilation task for two and a half years.
The Wenzhou Dialect Dictionary is an authoritative universal tool for interpreting the Wenzhou dialect, with a total of more than 9,000 characters and more than 2,800 Wenzhou dialect words, which is transferable, readable and learnable. In Shen Kecheng's view, with this dictionary, the cultural significance behind Wenzhou dialect will also be paid attention to, excavated and carried forward by more people. Once the dictionary was published, it attracted widespread attention from the media at home and abroad, the first-time online video live broadcast, more than 3 million people watched online, books are in short supply, and now it has entered the secondary printing stage.
"Because I love it, I insist on it." Recalling the study of Wenzhou dialect, Shen Kecheng talked about it, and the excavation and collation of Wenzhou dialect has become his long-cherished wish and mission. Today, Mr. Shen Kecheng, who is over eighty years old, is still working hard, and the new dialect work "The Flow and Sound Of Wenzhou Dialect" has been written and is waiting for publication. "Our Wenzhou dialect is full of charm, and there are many ancient Chinese components, which is an inexhaustible rich mine in the field of research." Shen Kecheng said that he hopes that this Song Dynasty rhyme can be continuously inherited and used by future generations in the long river of history, and has a long history.
