According to jd Shaw, a journalist at the well-known basketball media Hops Rumors, James Ennis, who is currently in free agent status, has decided to accept a generous contract offered to him by Israeli league team Hapoel Haifa. If all goes well, Ennis will test the overseas league once again after the 2013-14 season. In the 2013–14 season, he played well with the Australian League NBL team Perth Wildcats and Puerto Rico league team Piratas de Quebradillas, which helped him get a contract from the Miami Heat in the 2014 offseason and become an NBA player.
Ennis has signed several short-term ten-day contracts with the Nets, Clippers and Nuggets this season. He hasn't had many opportunities to perform, having made seven appearances in the regular season this season, averaging 4.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per game in 8 minutes per game, shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from three-point range. Ennis played for the Magic last season, averaging 8.4 points, 4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 24 minutes per game, shooting 47.3% from the field and 43.3% from three-point range, making him a decent outside shooter. On the defensive end, with the advantage of body shape and arm span, he can defend players in multiple positions.
In fact, Ennis still has a certain market in the NBA, and if some playoff-level teams have player injuries in the flank position, maybe they will consider this experienced outside player. But Ennis obviously can't wait, after all, the offer from Israel is too rich, and he doesn't want to wait for the NBA team to call.
Hapoel Haifa is currently 7th in the Israeli league, and with a total of eight teams in the Israeli league to qualify for the playoffs, Hapoel Haifa hopes to play a big game in the playoffs by signing Ennis. It is not known whether Ennis, who holds a large contract, can wield a prestige in Israel.
