On March 5th, the exhibition of Zhang Fang's dramatic character calligraphy and painting works opened in the Famous Chinese Historical and Cultural Street of North Shaanxi Road and Art Enjoyment Space (No. 456 North Shaanxi Road). The exhibition will run until March 18.
Zhang Fang is currently a painter at the Shanghai Academy of Calligraphy and Painting and a painter at the Shanghai Huangpu Academy of Painting. At the end of the 1980s, he studied under the famous Shanghai calligrapher Mr. Zhao Lengyue, whose calligraphy strives for peace and tranquility, natural and subtle beauty.

The reporter learned that as a representative art form that combines drama and painting, drama character painting not only has a long history, but also has a variety of styles, vivid images and far-reaching meanings. After the twentieth century, Lin Fengmian, Guan Liang, Ye Qianyu and other famous artists combined Western plastic arts, Chinese folk art and traditional literati painting to explore the development path of modern opera figure painting.
Zhang Fang's dramatic character painting is "Law from Guanliang", with books into painting, through deconstruction, abstraction and reconstruction, with explosive calligraphy lines and rich changes in ink color to highlight the personality of the characters and the tension of the plot, forming a unique style of freehand painting.
The famous painter Yang Zhengxin commented on Zhang Fang's dramatic character paintings: the calligraphy skills are profound, the painting is relaxed, open, not conventional, the lines are unrestrained and rhythmic, which well expresses the artist's artistic conception and artistic skills.
