When I toured before, "Rock And Roll Faust" had a "strange" phenomenon, and many viewers who came to buy tickets bought two shows at a time. Originally, the most expressive role in the play, "X-Dark", adopted the "blockbuster double card division lineup" this time, starring Ye Qisheng and Liu Lingfei in turn. Hourly News: How do you understand the character yourself about "X-Darkness"?
Liu Lingfei (hereinafter referred to as "Liu"): "X-Dark" is a very strong character as a whole, but he actually has a line to say to John, "I am willing to be your slave", that is, really like his servant, I am willing to serve you, and he also has his own purpose. I hope that the audience can see and understand the story and the characters for themselves, because the ideas generated by each audience are definitely still different.
<b>Hourly News:</b> In order to play "X-Dark", you made special preparations in terms of singing, lines, limbs, etc.?
Liu: There is a prop in the play that is the apple, in fact, at the beginning of the rehearsal, the director wanted us to cut this apple, and then he felt that the knife might be dangerous on the stage, including some obstacles to the performance on the stage, so the apple prop was cancelled. Later, before the premiere, I asked the prop teacher, is the apple still there, he said yes, so I said you still help me prepare.
Because the apple actually represents the "fruit of desire", in some mythological stories, the concept of the apple is still a more classic concept of desire. I just wanted to play with the apple, but I later thought that I had to eat it, and I had to let John eat it, because only when he ate it was it that proved that he accepted the fruit of desire. It was also from this moment that the song "Big Time" began, and he began to live a life of drunken fans, and the values of the whole person also changed.
There is also the "X-dark" makeup, in fact, it is not good-looking, I think he is not a realist character, and the overall costume matching, I think it should be controlled. I don't want the "X-Dark" makeup to be very human, it must be exaggerated, and hopefully the characters are completely fictional. When I was wearing makeup that day, I thought of a rock musician named Alice Cooper, and I thought of the direction of his eye makeup, and I felt that on this musical theater stage with a concert temperament, the makeup had to have an impact.
Hourly News: I heard that at the beginning you also thought about playing "X-Light", for actors, what is the difference between the two?
Liu: I think the role of "X-Light" is actually quite contradictory, he is actually trying to convince John, in fact, he is also the party of persuasion, but it is not the same as the "X-Dark" position. From the character point of view alone, I think "X-Dark" may be a relatively simple way, he just needs to seduce and let John achieve what he wants to achieve.
Hourly News: The singing segment in "Rock and Roll Faust" is recognized as a high difficulty, can you talk about the details of the rehearsal process that are more impressive? Or what do you think the hardest song to sing is?
Liu: There is a duet between me and "X-Light", and his melody is actually a piece of music from Bach, and then there is a duet between the two of them. It's actually different from most of the songs of "X-Dark", which I think is very interesting, and this "X-Light" is on the third floor, he looks down on all this, I am on the second floor, John is on the first floor, he is confused, should I pick up this contract.
In fact, I also made some adjustments, at first I was facing John, more to seduce him, and then I wanted to say, in fact, I still want to convince "X-Light", so I later in that paragraph is completely turned around and sang to "X-Light", that is, I want to tell him, "And do you know, everything will have an answer, the result will definitely emerge." This time I think the relationship between the three people is very delicate.
Hourly News: Have you ever known the original version of Rock 'n' Roll Faust? From the process of your own acting, how can the difference between the Chinese version and the original version be greater?
Liu: I have also seen the Korean version of "Rock and Roll Faust", including the Translation of the Korean script we also read when we first read the script, and we actually changed a lot later. When I first read it, I basically didn't understand the story, because it was completely literal, and the script at that time was actually completely different from what we present now. Our director, including the team, has also made relatively large changes, and also introduced some elements of Faust.
<b>Hourly News:</b> Audiences who have seen the performance before have a feeling - "there is a feeling of listening to a concert on the spot", can you introduce us to the stage and the presentation effect from the perspective of a performer?
Liu: The musical style of this musical is still quite diverse, and the biggest highlight is definitely his music, ranging from classical to rock, including baroque. There is also a combination of some visual multimedia, such as our ice screen, it is actually a relatively conceptual musical, and some of the musicals I have performed before may not be very the same, I personally like music, dance, these including and arranging, everyone can feel it on the spot.
Hourly News: In addition to the recent performance of "Rock and Roll Faust", what other work is in progress or what are the next plans? Can you tell us about it?
Liu: I am currently rehearsing the musical "Human Disqualification", and I will meet with you at the end of the year, and then there will be some repertoire tours, and there are also clothing brands that have been taking care of themselves.
