Core reading

From Chen Jingkai setting the first world record for new Chinese sports to breaking 15 world records at the 2019 World Weightlifting Championships, Chinese weightlifters have achieved brilliant results. Behind the honor is the inheritance of the excellent style of hard work and hard work by the weightlifters, and the study of training methods and weightlifting techniques. Standing on the podium is the athletes, and it is the whole team that lifts the glory.

31 Olympic gold medals, 522 world championships, 710 world records, this is the glory of the Chinese weightlifting team. The excellent style of hard work, tenacious struggle, challenging the limit and pursuing excellence is inherited in this team. In different periods, the members of the Chinese weightlifting team continue to surpass themselves, creating one good result after another with struggle and sweat.

Inherit the good style

Study technology diligently

After the founding of New China, Chen Jingkai and other weightlifters trained hard under difficult conditions, constantly improved training methods, and explored the "squat grasping" technology, making important contributions to the technological innovation of weightlifting in the world.

In order to practice anytime and anywhere, Chen Jingkai disassembled the bed board and made a bench bench. Today, the two benches are displayed in the Weightlifting Museum in Shilong, Guangdong, Chen Jingkai's hometown, inspiring visitors with a hard-working style. On June 7, 1956, at the Shanghai Gymnasium, Chen Jingkai broke the world record for the men's lightest weight deadlift held by American athletes with a score of 133 kilograms, and the first world record of new Chinese sports was born.

Chinese sports have sounded the clarion call for progress, and weightlifters have rushed to the forefront. In this project to show strength, Chinese weightlifters "shed blood and sweat without tears, hurt muscles and bones do not retreat", showing the struggle posture of Chinese sports people with good results.

Chen Jingkai has broken the world record nine times, and his brother Chen Manlin and nephew Chen Weiqiang have also become world record-setting weightlifters, achieving a good story in Chinese sports.

After the reform and opening up, the Chinese weightlifting team has continuously innovated training methods on the basis of inheriting the fine traditions and achieved remarkable results. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, the Chinese weightlifting team won a total of 4 gold medals.

"Compared with the older generation, we are more scientific and refined in training methods, project allocation, and special forces, which reduces the problem of injuries and illnesses." Wu Shude, the men's 56kg champion at the Los Angeles Olympic Games, recalled, "We inherit the excellent style of the Chinese weightlifting team of hard-working and never accepting defeat, and constantly surpass ourselves in training and competition. ”

Pushing the limits

Have the courage to break through yourself

"To make the world record write the name of the Chinese" has been the persistent pursuit of weightlifters for several years; "raising the national flag and playing the national anthem" is their firm goal in the competition. At present, among the world records of 14 Olympic events, 24 belong to the Chinese weightlifting team.

At the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Tang Lingsheng held up the barbell for 12 seconds, breaking the world record for the men's 59 kg overall and winning the championship. The men's 70 kg champion Zhan Xugang broke the three world records of total performance, deadlift and grasp in one fell swoop, and his unique "squat stiff" reflected the perfect combination of strength and technology.

At the 2000 Sydney Asian Games, Zhan Xugang, who was promoted from 70 kg to 77 kg, lifted 207.5 kg, a weight he had never lifted before, in the deadlift competition, under the disadvantage of falling behind his opponent by 7.5 kg in the snatch, and finally won the championship. At the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Tang Gonghong weighed 10 kilograms in the women's 75 kg or more competition, breaking the two world records for the deadlift and the overall result and winning the championship. These blood-boiling competition pictures show the confidence and courage of Chinese weightlifters.

"In the weightlifting project of competing strength, the Chinese team can be in an advantageous position for a long time, relying on the excellent style of weightlifters who constantly challenge the limit and never give up." Only by never accepting defeat can we bravely climb the peak. Zhou Jinqiang, chairman of the China Weightlifting Association, said.

With the continuous emergence of weightlifting talents, the fierce intra-team competition has also encouraged the members of the Chinese weightlifting team to inspire each other and frequently achieve good results in training.

Before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Long Qingquan had already qualified for the men's 56 kg Olympics, and Wu Jingbiao, who was unsuccessful, still launched a shock to the world record in training, which made Long Qingquan dare not relax in the slightest. In the end, Long Qingquan broke the 16-year-old men's 56 kg world record at the Olympic Games, and he also won the Olympic gold medal again after the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Strengthen logistical support

Build a strong team

Nowadays, the Chinese weightlifting team has formulated a systematic training program from seven aspects: strength, physical fitness, rehabilitation, psychology, nutrition, functional assessment and injury and disease prevention, so as to ensure that the team has always been at the forefront of the world.

There is no advantage in absolute strength, so it is made up by advanced technology, and it is necessary to achieve breakthroughs with hard work on the field. In 2018, the International Lifting Federation changed its level again, and the Chinese weightlifting team adjusted the participation level for the team members in a timely manner and quickly formulated a weight plan. A year later, at the Weightlifting World Championships, the Chinese team won a total of 10 Gold medals in Olympic events and broke 15 world records.

Standing on the podium is the athletes, and it is the whole team that lifts the glory.

Every time they leave Beijing for training, the whole team will go to the red education base to carry out patriotic education; in Dabie Mountain, the weightlifting team donates money to the people in the old area and networks with local primary and secondary school students; and holds the "Motherland in My Heart" keynote speech competition to ignite the passion of the athletes to win glory for the country.

At present, there are 37 party members in the party branch of the national weightlifting team, including 17 athlete party members, 3 reserve party members, and 5 active members included in the training plan. "I am always ready to win glory for the country, stand up at critical moments, and do my best." Athlete party member and Olympic champion Lu Xiaojun said.

The construction of the national team is booming, which not only drives the enthusiasm of local teams and amateur sports schools to cultivate talents, but also continuously sends excellent coaches overseas, driving the development of weightlifting in the world.

The footsteps of the Tokyo Olympic Games are getting closer and closer, and the Chinese weightlifting team with strong thinking and tenacious style will strive to achieve better results in the Olympic arena.
