A few days ago, the Tokyo District Court convicted Nissan motor and will face a fine of 200 million yen. After careful consideration, Nissan decided not to appeal.
Information shows that the case is related to the scandal of former Nissan executives Carlos Ghosn and Greg Kelly. After conducting an investigation, Nissan Motor found that they collaborated and misrepresented Ghosn's personal compensation in the Nissan Annual Report. Based on this finding, on February 27, 2020, the relevant Japanese agencies imposed an administrative fine on Nissan Motor, arguing that Nissan Motor violated the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act (FIEA), and Nissan also admitted to this matter.
On March 3 of this year, Nissan Motor was still convicted of treason and fined 200 million yen (about $1.7 million). Nissan said it would strengthen management and reforms to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. Currently, Ghosn, who lives in Lebanon, is wanted by Interpol for scandals and "evasion" incidents.
