According to the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 24, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov on the same day.
During the phone call, Lavrov briefed the Chinese side on the causes and consequences of the situation in Ukraine and the position of the Russian side, and explained the reasons for Russia's sudden attack on Ukraine.
Lavrov said that the continuous eastward expansion of the United States and NATO in violation of commitments, as well as violations of UN Security Council Resolution 2202 and refusal to implement the new Minsk agreement, have led to the Russian side being forced to take necessary measures to safeguard its rights and interests.
So, how did Foreign Minister Wang Yi respond to the Russian explanation? According to the Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Wang Yi replied with two words: understanding. These two words are worth a thousand words.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi pointed out that the Ukrainian issue has its own complex and special historical latitudes, and China understands Russia's legitimate concerns on security issues.
At the same time, China also advocates that a balanced, effective and sustainable European security mechanism be finally formed through dialogue and negotiation.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi's remarks are too informative. At a time when major Western countries and the United Nations are condemning Russia's military action against Ukraine, China has not blamed it in the slightest, but has expressed its understanding of Russia's actions to safeguard its rights and interests to the greatest extent.
On the one hand, this shows that there is a high degree of strategic mutual trust between China and Russia, there is sufficient communication on the Ukraine issue, and Russia's military operations against Ukraine have communicated with china in advance.
On the other hand, it should be emphasized that it is not because of Sino-Russian friendship that China does not condemn Russia, but that although Russia's move is illegal, it is reasonable. Putin also stressed that NATO has expanded eastward five times in history, oppressing Russia's living space, and now it is not implementing the Minsk agreement and transporting thousands of tons of deadly weapons to Ukraine, which seems to have the trend of the sixth eastward expansion. It is impossible to blame Russia for provoking the matter, but to blame Russia for turning the other cheek.

Of course, it is impossible for the United States to accept that Europe is out of control, so to some extent, one of the main purposes of the United States hyping up the Ukraine issue is to undermine the gradual relaxation of relations between Europe and Russia in recent years.

Therefore, the "sustainable European security mechanism" mentioned by Foreign Minister Wang Yi fundamentally means that it is necessary to overthrow US hegemonism and help Europe achieve independence and self-reliance.
At the Munich Security Conference a few days ago, Foreign Minister Wang Yi also told Europe in a serious tone that China will continue to support the European integration process and support European independence. However, China also hopes that Europe will jump out of the "triple positioning" mindset and grasp the general direction of China-EU relations from a long-term perspective.
To overthrow U.S. hegemony, Europe must pass. It is true that the United States' control over Europe is deeply rooted, and it can be said that it is difficult to achieve a significant change in Europe's mentality towards the United States in the short term.
Looking at this Russian-Ukrainian military conflict, we know that the current influence of the United States on Europe is still unshakable, even if Russia sends troops to Ukraine, the United States refuses to send troops, and no one in Europe dares to accuse half a sentence.
