On May 18, 2024 local time, Tajikistan President Rahmon met with Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Dushanbe.
Wang Yi first conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to Rahmon. Wang Yi said that China and Tajikistan are linked by mountains and rivers and have cultivated a deep traditional friendship, and the two sides have always respected and treated each other as equals, and supported and extended a helping hand to each other at critical moments. In May last year, Mr. President went to China to attend the China-Central Asia Summit and pay a state visit to China, during which the two heads of state jointly announced the building of a China-Tajikistan community with a shared future featuring friendship for generations, solidarity and mutual benefit, which clearly defined the goals for the development of bilateral relations and sent a positive signal to the two peoples and the world. China will continue to firmly support Tajikistan in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions and resolutely oppose interference in Tajikistan's internal affairs by external forces. No matter how the international situation changes, China will always be Tajikistan's trusted friend and partner.
Rahmon asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. Rahmon said: During my visit to China last year, I had an in-depth exchange of views with President Xi Jinping on cooperation between the two countries and reached a series of consensuses. With the joint efforts of both sides, these consensus is being implemented and important results have been achieved in cooperation in various fields. Advancing relations with China is a priority of Tajikistan's foreign policy. Tajikistan unswervingly adheres to the one-China principle and believes that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. We hope to have close high-level exchanges with China, strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, energy, minerals, transportation, agriculture, green industry, and artificial intelligence, jointly combat the "three forces", and continuously expand and strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Tajikistan and China. China plays an important role in international and regional affairs, and Tajikistan is willing to closely coordinate and support each other with China in multilateral platforms.
Wang Yi said that China actively supports the four development strategies of energy, transportation, agriculture and industrialization proposed by Mr. President, attaches importance to the needs of Tajikistan's cooperation, and is committed to expanding cooperation in emerging industries to help Tajikistan improve its economic development. We are ready to deepen security cooperation with Tajikistan and resolutely crack down on all forms of terrorism. The two sides can strengthen cooperation in the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the China-Central Asia mechanism, safeguard the common interests of the two countries and developing countries, and make due contributions to the prosperity and stability of the region and the world.
During the visit, Wang Yi will also hold talks with Tajik Foreign Minister Muhriddin.
