Wenchang, Hainan, 27 Feb (Xinhua) -- The first phase of the "Hainan No. 1" satellite lifted off into orbit on 27 February. Through network observation, the four stars can obtain a large amount of satellite remote sensing data from Hainan and its surrounding areas every day, and can provide all-round operational dynamic observation of Hainan Island and its jurisdictional areas.

At 11:00 a.m. on the same day, the "Hainan No. 1" satellite and 18 other satellites took off on board the Long March 8 carrier rocket at the Wenchang Space Launch Site. This move set a new record for China's multiple stars with one arrow.

"The scheduled time went on a predetermined track, which was very satisfactory." Yang Tianliang, commander-in-chief and chief designer of the Hainan Satellite Constellation Project, introduced that the Hainan No. 1 01 satellite, Wenchang No. 1 01 satellite and 02 satellite launched this time are tiny satellites integrating remote sensing of the earth and ship AIS collection, mainly for remote sensing imaging of Hainan and the waters around the province.

According to reports, the characteristics of maritime targets are a large number of useless seawater background data, occupying a number of data transmission bandwidth. "Hainan No. 1" adopts intelligent processing on the star, real-time vessel detection and down-transmission, reduces the pressure of digital transmission, and adopts a dual-line array imaging system, which is conducive to the extraction of moving targets and facilitates the discovery of key targets. In addition, relying on the high-precision attitude control of the satellite platform, "Hainan No. 1" can realize 4K high-definition video imaging of ports or key areas of interest.

As the first phase of the Hainan satellite constellation, the entry into orbit of the four optical satellites of "Hainan No. 1" means that the formation of Hainan's "exclusive" satellite constellation has entered a new stage. The Hainan Satellite Constellation is planned to have ten satellites, which are composed of four optical satellites of "Hainan No. 1", two optical satellites of "Wenchang No. 1", two hyperspectral satellites of "Sanya No. 1" and two SAR (synthetic aperture radar) series satellites of "Sansha I".

The four satellites launched this time are jointly developed by the Hainan Research Institute of the Institute of Aerospace Information of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and jointly developed by a number of enterprises in the Sanya Zhongke Remote Sensing Information Industry Park. Sanya Zhongke Remote Sensing Information Industrial Park has introduced and cultivated more than 300 enterprises, and 4 of them have successfully passed the national high-tech enterprise certification, basically covering the entire industrial chain of satellite remote sensing information.

"Hainan Star, Made in Hainan, Hainan Fa, Hainan Used, creating a road for the development of Hainan commercial aerospace." Yang Tianliang said that the four optical stars in the first phase of "Hainan No. 1" mainly serve the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port, and the successful entry into orbit means that Hainan's industrial pattern of "Wenchang commercial rocket launch in the north and Sanya satellite data application in the south" has taken a solid step. Yang Tianliang revealed that the follow-up six stars of the Hainan Satellite Constellation Plan will also be launched as planned. (End)
