Today's Story
Opening the photo album, a few faded old photos of the First Department Store in Changchun City suddenly made my childhood time come alive in front of my eyes.
Each old photo freezes the city's past years and carries a memory of the past.
I believe that in the memory of many people, there was always a department store when I was a child. I may not remember exactly what I bought, but the joyful mood when I visited the mall can never be forgotten.
The streets passed, the shops I have visited, the scenery I have seen, the small and warm memories that are pervasive, as if the slightest touch will flood from the bottom of my heart.
What I remember for a long time is the first department store located on the main road, which is the "one store" in the old Changchun population. At that time, the main road was the most prosperous commercial area in Changchun. As a child, the happiest thing for me was to run to a store to play.

The person who took me to a store was my mother. On summer evenings, my mother used to clean the house and the outside of the house after dinner, then lock the door, take my hand, and walk along the zebra crossing in the direction of a store. My mother's hands were thick and warm, and I was very relieved.
Every time she crossed the street, her palm clenched tighter. Coming to the guardrail of the sidewalk, the mother said in her mouth: "Pedestrians should pass on the right side, when they encounter a red light, stop for a while, see a green light, in order to pass, what about the yellow light?" And I responded loudly, "Stand on the sidelines and wait."
These warm images, frozen by the years, still come to my mind from time to time.

After crossing the road, go around a thick wooden telephone pole and you can see the plaque with three-dimensional characters of "Changchun Department Store". Above the plaque is a large five-pointed star three-dimensional shape, which is very conspicuous.
At this time, I broke away from my mother, ran to the front and pulled the door open with both hands, running around the counters excitedly.
In Changchun in the 1970s and 1980s, a store offered the most abundant goods and the most complete categories. Clothing, shoes and hats, velvet satin, knitted fabrics, stationery and sports supplies, hardware and miscellaneous, all kinds of daily necessities are available. Not only is the goods complete, but the quality of the goods is to reassure the people.
But here, the most attractive thing to me is the children's toy counter. All kinds of tin toys for animals, as well as cars, dolls, my favorite at the time was a toy called a kaleidoscope.

To see the kaleidoscope, you have to close one eye, and the other hand is constantly rotating, and you can see different patterns and colors with each turn. The mysterious world in the kaleidoscope made me fall in love with my young age.
The main thing was that the salesman aunt in that store was very good, and no matter how long I stood by and watched, she wouldn't drive me away.
Later, on my birthday, my mother gave me this beloved kaleidoscope as a gift, which made me happy for more than a month!
In the black and white photo, the crowd is surging and the traffic is busy. What was once a bustling store has finally become a memory of a generation. But the old man in the warm time, the mother who has been with me growing up, is 98 years old this year.
What makes me feel happiest is that she still holds my hand tightly, as warm as ever, and makes me feel at ease.
