"Hello everyone, today I am talking to you about 'CPR' and 'The Right Way to Use a Wheelchair'..."

Su Yingying after the "95" did not expect that after graduating from Jishou University, she did not engage in education work after graduating from the primary school education major, and actually had the opportunity to take the podium. It was not the primary school students who listened to the lecture, but dozens of elderly care workers in the Jinde Elderly Apartment in Yuhu District.

Born in 1995, Su Yingying is the youngest elderly caregiver in a nursing home. Not long ago, she won the second prize of the Xiangtan Elderly Care Worker Skills Competition, one of the only two "post-95s" among the winners, and one of the few "non-science class" players. After returning from the honor, she introduced her work experience as a training teacher and shared her experience.

"Engaging in the pension industry is fate."

One day 15 years ago, Su Yingying's grandmother suddenly suffered a stroke and has been bedridden ever since. Grandpa has also been in poor health, and her mother had to retire early and take the elderly to the family to take care of. It is very difficult to take care of the bedridden elderly, feeding food and water, turning over and wiping the bath, and pouring urine, Su Yingying, who was still a primary school student at the time, often helped her mother to do it together. Every day when I come back from school, I finish my meal and then do my homework. Such days are very hard and tiring, but she has also learned some "clinical experience" in caring for the elderly.

In 2016, Su Yingying graduated from university. Introverted, she did not choose to become a teacher, but was recruited to do administrative work in a hospital in Changsha. In the hospital, she saw many elderly people suffering from diseases. She thought of her grandmother, but she couldn't provide further help, which was very heart-wrenching. Later, she thought that her parents were also in their 60s, and she should set aside more time to spend with the elderly, so she quit her job and returned to her parents.

After returning to Xiangtan, I want to find a new job. Perhaps by chance, the first recruitment information Su Yingying saw was the recruitment clerk of the elderly apartment, and the vote was hit. "This suits me, my major is suitable for being a clerk, and I have loved being with my grandparents since I was a child." What is even more "surprising" to her is that the two founders of the company are "post-90s". She thought that working with her peers must be a pleasure to work with.

Su Yingying reported the good news of successful application to her parents for the first time, and what she did not expect to usher in was not praise and encouragement, but a scoop of cold water. "No way! What kind of pension do you have a thin sister, waiting for a large group of elderly people every day, risking vitality, you are still trying to find an object, sister! "Whoever said that young people are not suitable for the pension industry, the two owners of that nursing home are young people." The mother said that she could not answer, and could only agree.

As the saying goes, if you don't listen to the old man, "suffer losses" in front of you. Su Yingying did not expect that her mother's words would be "confirmed" so quickly: in addition to the boss and a few young people such as her, the vast majority of employees in the nursing home are "4050 personnel". "Young people in the pension industry are indeed scarce, not to mention front-line nursing staff, that is, it is difficult for rear administrative staff to recruit young college students." No wonder I was able to apply so smoothly. Su Yingying joked.

The hardships of the pension work are also what she did not expect at the beginning: the only few "young and strong forces" in the hospital are not only administrative staff, but also "porters" and "repairmen", and the elderly quarrel and become "mediators". After only a few months of staying, she learned to fix the TV, install a wheelchair, open the toilet, change the light bulb...

"Where do I still look like a girl?" Su Yingying often asked herself. "I really don't do it this time!" She had wanted to resign many times. "But it is so gray and slippery to leave the job and have no face, and it is certainly indispensable to go back without the nagging and complaining of the mother." The young man's strength made her dispel the idea of giving up again and again.

But in the end, what made her choose to stick to it was not face and stubbornness, but warmth and touching.

The elderly in the nursing home, many of them can not take care of themselves, some also suffer from Alzheimer's disease, Grandma Chen "has both". Su Yingying felt that Grandma Chen was very pitiful, and as long as she had time, she would chat with her and take good care of her. Once, she passed by Grandma Chen's room and heard a conversation between the old man and the cleaner: "Don't throw away the sugar particles, this is what I left for my grandson." "Hey, you're mistaken, this is a lump of paper you're lying on the bunk, you received it like a baby, and now it's all stuffed and really has to be cleaned up." Su Yingying just pushed open the door, and Grandma Chen said excitedly, "You see, my granddaughter is here, and she is the best for me." After saying that, he turned around and shoved the "candy" into her hand, "Sister, this is the sugar particles that Jiaoyi has left for a long time for you to eat." ”

At that moment, Su Yingying's eyes were moist, and she remembered that when she was a child, when her grandmother was lying on the bed and could not move, she was still talking about going to the store to buy snacks for herself. She suddenly understood that the little thing she did might bring great comfort to the old man's heart. For the first time, she also truly felt the meaning and value of this job.

There are more and more such stories, su Yingying's heart is also more and more moved, and her determination to stay in the nursing home is becoming more and more firm.

But as a clerk, there are only a few things she can do, so she uses the "convenience of her position" to learn nursing skills. When the hospital held skills training to make meeting minutes, she carefully copied a copy of the knowledge points, used her spare time to review, and sometimes followed the nursing aunt to "lay hands". The young man's ability to learn and master new knowledge is relatively strong, and she quickly got started, and also obtained a professional qualification certificate for elderly care workers.

After officially embarking on the nursing position of the elderly, it is common to clean the mouth for the elderly, trim the finger (toe) nails, and change the medicine for pressure sores. Su Yingying found that the elderly need more psychological care than the nursing care of life. During the epidemic period, nursing homes have implemented closed management, many elderly people have not seen their relatives for a long time, their hearts are very panicked, and some even have large emotional fluctuations, and some nursing staff are helpless. Su Yingying has studied educational psychology, and as soon as she has time, she talks to the elderly on her knees, patiently listens to their nagging, and puts herself in the shoes of the elderly. She also took the initiative to add weChat to the elderly's family members to let the elderly and their families make video calls to soothe their emotions.

There is always a reward for giving. Su Yingying's excellent work has been highly recognized by the elderly and family members in the hospital, and she has achieved good results in the municipal and district elderly care skills competitions. The pension work did not make her "twilight", on the contrary, she found self-confidence, realized self-worth, and became cheerful. But she always said that she was still young, did not do enough, and had to "unlock" more new skills through learning.

"If there are young people who want to engage in the pension industry and ask me for my opinion, I will not hesitate to say that the pension industry needs young people and is suitable for young people." Old-age nursing is a sunset cause, but it is a sunrise industry, the state attaches importance to, social concern, broad prospects; the work process is also a process of continuous learning and continuous growth, full of vitality and vitality. As long as you serve with heart and affection, in the eyes of the elderly, they are 'little granddaughters', 'good children', and 'old people' are always young! Su Yingying said jokingly.
