Zhao Yizhong, the 26-year-old deputy company commander of the 182nd Regiment and the commander of the main attack group, gloriously dedicated himself to the "10.19" attack and composed a song of praise for the "hard bones" that stood tall in the sky.

Be brave and ambitious after knowing the shame

In May 1984, the regimental party committee announced that Zhao Yizhong, the platoon leader of the secret service company, would be punished with a warning within the party. Life itself is so unforgiving. Yesterday he was still a warrior, a backbone fighter, and a third-class meritorious hero who participated in the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam; now, because he took advantage of his work to buy an extra leather bag for himself, he seriously violated discipline and was punished.

This was nothing less than a strong sobering agent, which made him understand that as a party member, from the moment he solemnly swore an oath, his deeds, honor and disgrace, and his life were closely linked to the party. This mistake not only deprived the individual of his dignity, but also blackened the image of the Party.

From then on, with a sincere sense of repentance, he did his best to wash away the shame.

After Zhao Yizhong's unit was given the task of going to the Dianlun War, he was particularly excited, hurriedly sent home his wife, who had just been in the army for 10 days, handed over two petitions in a row, and finally won the first batch of opportunities to go to the front. Before leaving, a fellow villager sighed: "Why does this errand of fighting a war make you run into each other twice in a row?" Zhao Zhong replied: "This is called luck - the battlefield is the rebirth of party members who have made mistakes!"

Regeneration is fascinating, and regeneration is tough. Zhao Yizhong, like the phoenix of Nirvana, began to regenerate in the flames of war. Just as he was preparing to face the enemy as a soldier, a phone call from the regiment raised him to the headquarters as a reconnaissance staff officer. In 1986, during the "July 1st", Zhao Yizhong was rated as an outstanding party member by the organs.

Zhao Yizhong resolutely demanded that he be transferred from the organ to the first-line company. As a result, he was transferred to 3 machines to serve as deputy instructor. He was not satisfied, and asked the battalion party committee to "understand the urgent feelings of a punished party member" and asked to go to the forefront of the 9th Company.

His frank words and deeds were understood and supported by all the party committee members of the 3rd Battalion, and Zhao Yizhong was transferred to the 9th Company as a deputy company commander and a position commander. Soon, the task of attacking position 55 was given to the 9th Company. Therefore, Zhao Yizhong went to fight for the position of the leader of the main attack group.

The competitor was another deputy company commander, Wan Zhongyong, and as soon as the election meeting began that day, the deputy company commander took the lead and laid out 3 reasons for himself to be the leader of the main offensive assault group: first, he graduated from a military academy; second, he was familiar with the enemy; third, there were 3 brothers, and his parents had no worries.

Zhao Yizhong calmly stated his reasons: "In addition to the 3 articles of the ten thousand deputy company commanders, I also have 3 points: First, I am a scout; Second, I have experience in 1979 in self-defense against Vietnam; Third, his wife had just given birth to a fat boy, and Zhao Yizhong had left his own flesh and blood. He paused and said more seriously: "The most important thing is that I am a punished party member, and I need to glorify the party with the most glorious actions, so please comrades give me the most glorious place of regeneration to Zhao Yizhong!"

The commandos had a solemn expression, and everyone looked at the tearful Deputy Company Commander Zhao and solemnly raised his arms for him with tears in his eyes.

Faithful to the country and spill blood

The "10.19" attack battle began, and Zhao Yizhong led the main attacking right wing assault group to rush to the enemy's Position No. 55 like a fierce tiger, breaking through the enemy's defense in only 3 minutes. The Vietnamese began to block the attack of our assault detachment with dense artillery fire, and Zhao Yizhong, who was the first soldier and bore the brunt of it, was hit in the left arm by a piece of flying shrapnel, and half of his body was stained red with blood. Wang Changxing, the 7th squad leader who followed him, saw that Zhao Yizhong was injured and insisted on rescuing him. Zhao Yizhong was on fire and shouted: Your task is to penetrate, quickly go around from the right side, insert into hole 4, and break the retreat. The 7th squad leader was shedding tears, enduring grief, and led the whole class to the depth of the enemy... Zhao Yizhong did not care about bandaging, and held the submachine gun in his right hand, commanding the charge while shooting. When he approached the enemy's cave, he grabbed a package of explosives in his right arm and sent it into the hole where the bullets were being sprayed, and suddenly 5 Vietnamese soldiers in the cave were killed.

Suddenly, the Vietnamese anti-aircraft machine gun diagonally opposite swept over, and Zhao Yizhong's hands were fast, and he pressed down the soldier Deng Qilin, but he himself was broken by the anti-aircraft machine gun. His arms could no longer be waved, the enemy's machine guns were still firing wildly, and Zhao Yizhong's eyes were wide with anger, and he shouted command in his voice. The correspondent Zhao Enhua rushed up, bandaged his broken arms and then tried to carry him back, shouting loudly: "I am the captain, I can't leave!" Zhao Yizhong still stubbornly stepped forward with his legs, leaving Yin Hong's blood mark behind him...

At this time, the enemy's 1 shell exploded next to Zhao Yizhong, and he was seriously injured for the third time and fainted on the ground. When the platoon commander Ren Changjun searched and suppressed the remnants of the enemy and later came to Zhao Yizhong's side, he saw that he had become a "bloody man". Two comrades-in-arms were about to forcibly carry him down the position, and he gasped and said in a weak voice, "Go and carry the other wounded, I will withdraw last!"

When he was finally carried back by his comrades, he was hit in the chest and abdomen by the shrapnel fired by the Vietnamese artillery, and he fainted again

Selfless dedication is generous

The attack was won, and the scorched and bloodied soldiers cried and pounced on their deputy company commander. Di Guoping, the battalion commander with blurred tears, brought his face close to Zhao Yizhong's face and asked the hero's last request. Zhao Yizhong moved his lips and said with difficulty: "Battalion commander, help me solve the house of my family and children... Tell the chief, my punishment..." The last words from the bottom of his heart made all those present cry bitterly.

Only then did people know that Zhao Yizhong's lover and son were still living in the dormitory, and that his father, who was suffering from cancer, was dying. All of this, he never uttered a word to the organization.

He understands love, and he also knows the word "loyalty and filial piety". But on the balance between the interests of the motherland and his personal interests, he put the "weight" on the side of the motherland. Whenever the leader asked him about the difficulties in his family, he always said, "Nothing, nothing, it's fine." When his lover persuaded him to change careers, he replied, "My current occupation is in the army, and as long as I am in the army, I will not leave the army." A few days before the attack, the married sister wrote to say that her father was terminally ill, vomiting blood every day, had no money to treat, and it was difficult for the family to support it. In this regard, he did not tell others, and did not extend his hand to the organization for relief, but just collected 200 yuan to send it back, and led the commando team to charge forward without hesitation.

He fought in 1979 and was honored with military merit. On this time, he was working as a staff officer in an organ, but he was not satisfied, and he wanted to pursue the added value of his life in the most arduous and dangerous places. It is precisely this spirit of selfless dedication and dissatisfaction that enables him to achieve the "four firsts": the cadres of the organs are the first to accompany the soldiers to the forefront and the most dangerous positions, and help direct the battle for more than 50 days; The first requested to be appointed from the company under the organ; the first requested to be transferred from a machine gun company to an infantry company to fight the offensive, and was elected as the leader of the main offensive assault group on 5 strong reasons; the first was to lead the commando team to rush to the enemy's position.

Zhao Yizhong shed the last drop of blood for the party and the motherland, and he went safely. People saw the words in his letters to his son he had never met: "My sweet boy, Daddy may not have a chance to name you." When you grow up, don't forget that you are the son of a revolutionary martyr, and never do anything that is detrimental to the party and the people..."

On May 12, 1987, the Central Military Commission issued an order awarding Zhao Yizhong the honorary title of "Combat Hero" and awarding him the first class meritorious service.

Although the martyr Zhao Yizhong was buried in the East Mountain of the Bali River, his "hard bones" image, like the green pines of southern Xinjiang, stood tall and green; He composed the hymn of "hard bones", like a gushing panlongjiang, which has a long history and lasted for a long time.

Supplement: Zhao Ning, the son of the martyr Zhao Yizhong, later came to the Ninth Company where his father fought as a soldier and has now grown into an officer of the People's Liberation Army.
