The Associated Press and Reuters reported on Feb. 17 that after receiving 354 complaints about "phantom braking," the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will launch an investigation into Tesla that will cover about 416,000 Tesla vehicles.

This phenomenon is often referred to as "Phantom Braking," in which a user turns on the Autopilot Assist system of a Tesla vehicle when the vehicle brakes suddenly and without warning without warning.

According to the Financial Associated Press, NHTSA said it has received 354 complaints related to ghost brakes in the past 9 months, with preliminary assessments covering model 3 and Model Y cars in the U.S. market in 2021-2022, and all Tesla vehicles reviewed equipped with the company's autopilot assist system, Autopilot.

According to a previous report by qilu evening news, NHTSA said that between January 2018 and July 2021, Tesla's Autopilot system has caused 11 accidents, resulting in 17 injuries and 1 death.

Investigation documents published on NHTSA's website show that Tesla vehicles involved in the accident were confirmed to either turn on the Autopilot system or use traffic Aware Cruise Control, and most accidents occurred after dark.

Just last week, Tesla recalled 578,607 vehicles in the U.S. because Tesla vehicles were accused of playing too loud when using the "Boombox" feature, which could prevent pedestrians from hearing warnings as cars approached.

In response, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted last week: "Interesting police let us do this (sigh). Musk's remarks may be expressing dissatisfaction with NHTSA, but also suggesting that Tesla launched a large-scale recall under pressure from the agency.

In the secondary market, Tesla closed on Friday, with its stock price plunging 5.09%, and its market value evaporated by 308 billion yuan overnight.
