Recently, Rivian, a pickup truck manufacturer from the United States, has added a new anti-theft function to its R1T pickup truck, which undoubtedly provides a very good example for domestic enterprises. The feature is called Gear Guard, similar to Tesla's Sentinel mode. This feature consists of three parts: video, cable, and alarm.
According to reports, Rivian has developed a software that can control multiple cameras of the vehicle when the vehicle is parked to automatically detect moving objects around it, including pets and people. Once the system detects that there are people around the vehicle, the system will activate 5 of the 11 cameras on the vehicle to record the recording. Videos will be sorted by location, date and time, stored on the car's internal hard drive, and can provide footage for the owner in the event of a theft. The display also designed a cartoon image for this system, which can show that the car has enabled the Gear Guard system when parking. When someone approaches the vehicle, a video is played indicating that the theft will be recorded.
Of course, Rivian also did user research when developing this anti-theft feature. According to the feedback data, users are more worried about the theft of equipment and goods placed on the roof and inside the cargo box. So Rivian also introduced an original (non-retrofit) cable that can be locked on the bezel on the side of the cargo box. Dual insurance guarantees that the vehicle and items will not be stolen.
In fact, this function and idea is very simple, the current domestic home camera and driving recorder monitoring level can fully be competent for this work, but this function has not been paid attention to by car companies and used in vehicle anti-theft, Rivian for domestic car companies, especially pickup truck companies to make a very good example. If you want to keep the pickup truck's open cargo box, you can integrate some high-resolution wide-angle cameras inside the rear window to monitor the cargo box and its surroundings when parking, and also eliminate the cost of adding the container cover to the user later.
