Saudi Arabia has 30 female driver positions on the high-speed rail, and 28,000 people have applied
An advertisement in Saudi Arabia to recruit 30 female train drivers attracted up to 28,000 applicants. The response was amazing.
The railway operator from Spain said the online academic assessment and English proficiency test conducted on Wednesday had been cut in half by the number of first-class candidates, and further screening would be completed in mid-March.
The 30 lucky ones will officially take up their jobs after a year of paid training to drive the high-speed train that runs between the holy city of Mecca and Medina.
The company said it placed great emphasis on providing employment opportunities for local women.
It wasn't until after 2018 that women in the Kingdom were allowed to drive cars. It was also recently that the restrictions on gender segregation were lifted, allowing job opportunities other than education and medical care to be offered to women.
I would love to know what the 30 female drivers who were finally selected would look like!
