The orbit of the International Space Station will be adjusted again at the end of February
Roscosmos, Russia, plans to make corrections to the orbital altitude of the International Space Station at 09:37 Beijing time on February 26, 2022, so that the orbital conditions will be met before the SOY SOY MS-21 manned spacecraft is launched into orbit (March 18) and before the Soyuz MS-19 manned spacecraft lands (March 30).
The power source for the ISS orbit correction is the Progress MS-18 cargo spacecraft docked in the Zvezda service module of the Russian section of the International Space Station (docked with the ISS on October 30, 2021), and the spacecraft engine will operate for 372.5 seconds to provide a pulse of 0.54 m/s. It is expected that after the orbit correction maneuver, the average altitude of the ISS orbit will increase by 1.1 km to 417.94 km.
The orbital parameters of the International Space Station after the corrected maneuver should be:
Orbital period: 92.87 minutes;
Orbital inclination: 51.66 degrees;
Lowest track altitude: 415.40 km;
Maximum track altitude: 435.97 km
A total of 315 corrections were made to the orbital altitude throughout the ISS flight, 166 of which were made with the help of the engine of the Progress cargo spacecraft.
