The farewell ceremony of veteran media person and news commentator Cao Jingxing was held on the morning of February 17 at The Baoxing Funeral Home in Shanghai. Born in Shanghai in 1947, Cao Jingxing graduated from the Department of History of Fudan University, and was an assistant researcher at the Institute of World Economics of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, a commentator, director of the Speech Department, deputy director of the Information Station of Phoenix Satellite TV, deputy editor-in-chief of Asia Weekly, chief writer of Ming Pao, editor-in-chief of Zhongtian Channel of Communication Television, senior visiting scholar of the School of Journalism and Communication of Tsinghua University, professor of East China Normal University, director of the Institute of Cross-Strait Exchange and Regional Development, consultant of the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai, "Tales of Two Cities" and "Huangjian" of Oriental Satellite TV. Moderator of "News 60 Minutes" and Distinguished Professor of Shanghai Overseas Chinese University.
Cao Jingxing has long been committed to journalism, and "not telling lies and not saying what he doesn't believe" is the principle he has adhered to all his life.
On February 11, Cao Jingxing died of illness in Shanghai at the age of 75. When the news came, many of his colleagues and his audience and readers were saddened.
