It is mainly composed of a gauge armor type chain and a very thick steel cable, which is a very traditional snow chain, and is now used less in family cars, because this chain has a little injury to the tire.
However, there are still more heavy vehicles or off-road vehicles, after all, this chain structure is still very strong.
It is made of a small roller set on a steel cable, which looks simple in structure, and the weight is relatively light, and it is relatively convenient to carry.
It is the most expensive product in this test, the main anti-slip part is a mesh structure made of vulcanized rubber, then inlaid with steel nails, and then connected together with a whole steel cable.
But it's a bit bulky and less convenient to carry, and the combined volume of the two snow chains is about to catch up with a 20-inch suitcase.
It's actually a large plastic cable tie, and to be honest I'm not optimistic about it, because it broke off on the way... So I feel like it's just theoretically non-slip.
"Ease of Disassembly Test"
Its installation method is very simple, first wrap the steel cable around the back of the tire, and then connect the buckle at the upper end of the steel cable, and then surround the chain as a whole, you can fix the steel cable on the inside of the tire.
Then hook the snap of the outer chain of the tire, and finally tighten the fixing chain, go around a snap, and then hook on the upper chain to form a triangle OK and this is done.
I install a wheel in about 2 minutes and 38 seconds, the removal process I will not repeat, the installation process is reversed, I take about 1 minute and 20 seconds.
Here I recommend that you directly use the jack to put the roof up, let the tires hang in the air to install the snow chain, which will be more convenient.
And I strongly recommend that the tire be opened on the snow chain and then installed, so it is easy to lead to the installation is not in place, and the snow chain may fall off during the driving process, resulting in danger.

Ball chain installation is very simple, just need to put the steel cable buckle on the inside and outside sides of the tire directly on the line, of course, be sure to make sure that the cable is tight, and then use the six-claw rubber belt on the outside of the tire to hook the peripheral cable.
It took me about 2 minutes to install and about 1 minute to disassemble.
And I still recommend that you use the jack to top the tire up and install, so that it can be installed more symmetrically and is not easy to loosen.
First fully unfold the snow chain, then plug the snow chain from under the tire to the back of the tire, and then put your hand into the back of the tire and buckle the steel cable buckle inside first.
Then hook the metal hook at the connection of the snow chain, and then pull the snow chain evenly on the tire, this step has to be a little harder.
Finally, with a special rocker, the hooks of 2 to 3 rubber bands hooking the snow chain on the outside of the entire tire are installed to ensure that the snow chain will not fall off.
It took me about 7 minutes and 50 seconds to install, and it was also very difficult to remove the snow chain, and it took me 1 minute and 33 seconds to remove it completely.
This is by far the most laborious installation of a snow chain, and both sleeves of my clothes were soiled when it was installed...
This is really simple, just put the cable tie through the hub, and then pull the non-slip raised side outward to tighten the cable tie.
For example, the wheels of my car have a total of ten spokes, and it can be equipped with nine cable tie type snow chains, because the cable tie chains may move left and right in the spokes, so the spokes with valves cannot be installed.
Another point to note is that when installing, you should avoid the brake tubing, do not tie the brake tubing and the wheel hub together, so that as long as the car moves, the brakes, the tubing will be torn off.
Although the cable tie type snow chain installation is simple, but the installation of nine is still more time-consuming, a wheel I used 4 minutes and 28 seconds, dismantling it is simple, directly use the key to pry open the buckle of the cable tie on the line, 3 seconds can be completed, so the disassembly time is almost negligible.
Fortunately, the installation of this anti-slip cable tie does not require the use of jacks, so it is relatively simple to get started, but the disadvantage of this thing is disposable, which is a bit wasteful...
(Attention!) All the time spent in this test includes the time to use the jack to top the car, because I use a horizontal jack, which is relatively faster, and if you use the mechanical jack that comes with the car, it should be about 1 to 2 minutes slower. ）
conclusion:
The most difficult to install is the rubber steel nail type snow chain, which can be said to be time-consuming and laborious.
The second is the wire ball type snow chain, although it is not very time-consuming, but the installation needs to be a miracle, which is not very friendly for the owner with little strength.
Relatively easy is the manganese steel quenched chain type snow chain, normal physique of male and female owners have the strength to install it.
The simplest is the cable tie type simple snow chain, which can be easily handled by small children.
"Anti-slip effect test"
I braved the heavy snow on a snowy day to find an uphill slope of 30 meters in length and a gradient of about 15 degrees to do this test, and there was a lot of snow on the uphill, and under the snow was a slippery and icy cement pavement.
In order to be fair in the effect of the snow chain test, I use Land Rover's ATPC mode every time I go uphill.
In this mode, I will set the speed to a fixed value, and the driving computer will dynamically adjust the output torque of each wheel according to the sliding situation of each wheel to ensure that the car is moving at a set speed.
I don't step on the accelerator the whole time, so theoretically, the less the tire slips, the faster the uphill speed.
Because it was a 4WD test on the upper slope, I would mount it on two rear wheels for each set of snow chains.
When the car first went uphill, it was obvious that there was a pause, which was because the driving computer detected that there were wheels sliding and began to adjust the torque output of each wheel.
So after a short pause, the car climbed the slippery snowy slope in 42 seconds.
Also after just going uphill there is a significant pause, and then start climbing, here I need to explain that every time I climb I will avoid the last time on the snow formation of the car fold, so that you can get as much as possible a variety of snow chains, more accurate anti-slip effect.
After 48 seconds, the car also managed to climb the long slope.
To be honest, I thought it would be the worst, but it was a bit of a surprise that the car climbed the slippery ramp in 46 seconds.
The most embarrassing is the cable tie type simple snow chain, after it is installed to drive to the road of the big long slope, it broke one, after opening more than ten meters, the cable tie snow chain on one side of the wheel is broken only four... The last side opened and broke, and only two remained...
Then I really didn't dare to open it, for fear that if the cable tie chain was broken, it would pull the brake tubing of the rear wheel, and it would be more than worth the loss.
conclusion:
The best anti-slip effect is the manganese steel quenched chain chain type snow chain, followed by the rubber steel nail type snow chain, and finally the wire ball type snow chain, while the cable tie simple type snow chain failed this test.

The disadvantage is that its working noise is large, and the damage to the tires and wheels is relatively large, especially the tire damage is very large, so it is recommended to use it with the AT tire.
This snow chain price is moderate, the noise is moderate, the anti-slip effect is also justified, the biggest feature I think is lightweight, lighter than the rubber steel nail type snow chain.
So it's more suitable for models where the luggage space on the car itself is not enough when going out to play.
Although it is the most expensive and time-consuming and laborious to install, it has minimal damage to tires and wheels, almost negligible.
And it and the tire fit area is the largest, should also be the least easy to fall off, so it is safer, and the noise and vibration it produces is also minimal, so it is very suitable for family cars.
This thing I feel can only be used on roads with a certain thickness of snow, not on uneven roads, because the plastic itself is very brittle in winter, and the ground is uneven, and it is easy to break.
Therefore, it can only be used as an emergency anti-slip tool, although it has a little anti-slip effect, but I still do not recommend everyone to use.
