The Winter Olympics | the American "senior" combination to win a new championship

On February 12, the Yunding Ski Park in zhangjiakou division of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics decided to be the champion of the snowboard slalom chase mixed team. The U.S. team, formed by men's Nick Baumgartner and women's Lindsey Jacobellis, won the gold medal by a narrow margin of 0.2 seconds over the Italian team. It was also the first gold medal in the event in the history of the Winter Olympics.

As one of the seven new sub-events added to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, when the snowboard sledge chase mixed team competition, the male athletes took the lead in starting at the same time, with the time gap between crossing the finish line as the time difference between the subsequent female players of each team, and finally the ranking of the female runners crossing the finish line as the final ranking.

Baumgartner competed in the 2010, 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics, but never on the podium. Previously, in the already concluded Men's Steeplechase at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, he only finished 10th and still did not fulfill his medal wish. His female partner, Jacob Baylis, is a "treasure-level" athlete with both athletic experience and athletic performance. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, she finished second in the women's steeplechase on snowboarding, and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics is her fifth winter Olympic trip. At the Winter Olympics, she has won a gold medal in the women's steeplechase on snowboarding, competed in mixed team competitions, and she has a championship halo on her head.

After the semi-finals, the First Team of the United States and the First Team of Italy and the First Team of Canada reached the final grand final. In the grand finals, the male players of the Canadian team were initially riding in the dust, but after jumping on a large snow slope, Baumgartner quickly grabbed the front and crossed the finish line first, followed by the Italian team and the Canadian team. However, at this time, the difference in finish time between the three male players is less than 0.3 seconds. In the subsequent competition between female players, there is still a possibility of change.

Sure enough, after the women's competition began, the Italian female team Miqueira Mojoli quickly rushed to the front, followed by Jacobellis. Italy's second team and Canada's first female players, Caterina Karpano and Meljeta Odin, collided shortly after their departure, losing the opportunity to compete for the championship. Since then, Jacobellis has fully demonstrated his experience and excellent sliding skills in the competition with Mojoli, and took the lead in crossing the line to win the championship. After the game, Jacobellis said: "We were all in great shape today and we were all very excited to win the title. ”
