Ski jumping men's personal big jump Song Qiwu: Getting better and better, don't be afraid to fall!

On the evening of February 11, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Ski Jumping Men's Individual Big JumpIng Qualification Tournament was held at the National Ski Jumping Center "Xue Ruyi", and China's Song Qiwu failed to break through from the qualifiers and advance to the next round.

A total of 56 athletes competed in the Ski Jump Men's Individual Grand Jump Qualifier, with the top 50 scorers qualifying. Song Qiwu came in 16th place, jumped 94.5 meters, scored 50.7 points, ranked 55th, and missed the final. Top qualifiers were Norway's Marius Lindvik, who scored 136.4 points, while the last player to qualify for the final round scored 74.5 points.

China's ski jumping project started late, and at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Chinese athletes only stood on the stage of the Winter Olympics for the first time. Compared with European and American masters, Chinese players do not have an advantage in terms of sliding distance and flight attitude. With the success of Beijing's bid to host the Winter Olympics, China has increased its investment in ski jumping projects, and under the guidance of high-level foreign teachers, Chinese athletes continue to participate in international competitions, and their own strength has been significantly improved. At the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Chang Xinyue not only participated, but also reached the final, becoming the first person in China to ski jump the Winter Olympics. In the men's and women's individual standard platform competitions held earlier in the Beijing Winter Olympics, Song Qiwu, Dong Bing and Peng Qingyue failed to pass the qualification round.

In the face of such a result, Song Qiwu believes that he still has not been able to play his due level, of course, compared with the previous performance in the men's individual standard platform and the mixed group standard platform, there is still some progress. The wind during the game had some influence on Song Qiwu, but he admitted that the fundamental problem was that the overall technical movements failed to reach a better level. Looking back at the three Winter Olympic games he has participated in, Song Qiwu feels better and better, from being nervous at the beginning to gradually letting go later. In the future training, Song Qiwu and the team will take reaching the world's top level as the goal, go all out, and spare no effort to work hard.

"Be brave and do it, you'll love the sport." Song Qiwu said that he expected more people to participate in the ski jumping project, and the advice he gave was "Don't be afraid of falling!" ”
