The spectacle of war, a deflected bullet to turn the tide of the war.

Verdun was a major fortress in northeastern France, and if the Germans had captured it, they would have been able to take Paris directly. The Battle of Verdun, known as the Meat Grinder of World War I, lasted from 21 February to 19 December 1916. At the beginning of the campaign, the Germans put in 27 divisions and 1,000 cannons, while the French army had only 110,000 men and 270 cannons. When French reinforcements arrived, the two sides began a tug-of-war. Both sides sent more troops to Verdun. In the end, the two sides invested a total of more than 2 million troops, and the total number of casualties was more than 1 million. The French set up four lines of defense in Verdun, and at the beginning, the Germans poured more than 2 million shells into the French positions at a speed of 100,000 per hour. The inferiorly equipped French fought very hard. Finally, after some hard work, the French forward position was broken by the Germans.

The Germans, taking advantage of the victory, quickly advanced deep into the French positions. In just four or five days, the Germans broke through the three Lines of Defense of the French Army. Seeing that the general trend of the French army has gone, the defeat has been decided, and the tragedy is about to happen. Suddenly, a miracle occurred: a French shell had deflected due to operational problems and hit an ammunition supply base in the rear of the German army. This miracle, which had not been encountered in ten thousand years, suddenly exploded more than 450,000 large-caliber shells in the German base, causing the largest explosion in the Battle of Verdun. The German ammunition supply base was reduced to ashes. A few hours later, the cannons on the German positions became "squibs" because there was no supply of artillery shells. Heaven-given fighters, the French suddenly cheered up, turned to attack, concentrated artillery and troops to attack all the German artillery positions one by one, destroyed all the German large artillery of 15 to 16.5 inches, so that the German army could not do anything even if it brought shells from the rear. In this way, the French army won the battle. This deflection made an immortal achievement. From the time of the second martyrdom in the war, the artificial use, and later, when developing new explosives, attention was paid to preventing the occurrence of martyrdom. These were undoubtedly inspired by the Battle of Verdun, which was a deflection.
