In 1937, a pile of corpses was set on fire, and a "corpse" suddenly twisted, and he was painfully engulfed in flames, and pretending to be dead could not save him. Beneath him, someone witnessed all this, this person watched his own people being burned alive, he was Wu Changde, he was frightened. He thought regretfully that if he had just been killed by the little devil, he would not have been burned alive.

So what happened made him fall into a situation where life is worse than death at this moment. On December 18, 1937, the 6th day of the Nanjing Massacre, at 1 p.m., the Japanese army came to Hanzhong Gate with more than 2,000 young people.

A Japanese soldier said to give everyone a performance, to pick some people to work, if they do a good job, there will be a reward, and for the sake of fairness, they decided to randomly circle people with ropes. After saying that, two Japanese soldiers began to circle people with ropes, and finally they circled 100 people, including Wu Changde.

At that time, Wu Changde was a little happy, because he had to eat without going hungry at work, but he did not know that death was approaching. At 5 p.m., the Japanese took the 100 men to the river embankment. Wu Changde was keenly aware that something was wrong, because there were several machine guns on both sides of the embankment, and the corpses on the ground had piled up into a mountain.

It turned out that the Japanese army was picking human flesh targets, and those who were selected were all killed by machine guns. Wu Changde felt cold behind him when he thought of this, and seeing that the Japanese army was about to start strafing, out of instinct, he plunged headlong into the mountain of corpses, hoping to hide from it.

At this time, the sound of the machine gun "clicking" sounded, and the youth quickly fell down and pressed on him. It didn't take long for the gunfire to stop, which relieved him. He thought that as long as the Japanese army left, he would be saved.

Unexpectedly, instead of leaving, the Japanese troops walked towards where he was, and the Japanese stabbed him with bayonets, stabbing him in the back, while the people lying on him had already been pierced by bayonets. It turned out that the person on his body was not dead, which attracted the attention of the Japanese army, and the Japanese made up a knife, and he endured the pain and did not dare to make a sound.

However, the Japanese army still did not leave, which made him very devastated. At this moment, there was a strong smell of gasoline, and then he felt the piping hot temperature coming from his body, and he realized that the Japanese were burning corpses. Thinking of this, he was almost desperate, and if he was burned alive, it would be too painful.

Although the person on the body was stabbed, but there was still a breath, looking at his painful and twisted body, the fear of death and pain made Wu Changde almost crazy, believing that no matter what, no one could bear all this.

Wu Changde endured this for a long time, and finally he couldn't help it, thinking that it was better to be killed directly by the Japanese army, or better than to live like this now, so he ripped open the body on his body and ran out.

By this time it was already dark and the Japanese were gone, and in this way, Wu Changde became the only survivor of this tragedy.

In May 1946, when Matsui Ishigen, a first-class criminal in the Nanjing Massacre, was tried by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, Wu Changde attended the trial as one of the witnesses exposing the crimes of Japan, and when he told the scene, he was so emotional that we could not imagine what happened to him.

The countless compatriots who died in the Nanjing Massacre remind us that shame must not be forgotten and that the crimes committed by the Japanese aggressors must not be covered up. No matter how many years have passed, we have no right to forgive the crimes of the Japanese aggressors on behalf of the martyrs.
