It was confirmed that former NSW Governor Gladys Berejiklian will join telecom operator Singtel Optus on 28 February as head of corporate, commercial and institutional operations.

Ms Berejiklian has been Governor of NSW since January 2017 and resigned in October last year.

Optus CEO Kelly Bayer Rosmarin said Berejiklian is a proven leader with boldness, leadership and discipline, and believes she will lead Optus to gain market share in segments dominated by existing vendors.

Earlier, the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (ICAC) said it was investigating whether she had violated public trust or encouraged corrupt practices during her dealings with former lawmaker Daryl Maguire, who had been discredited. ICAC has not yet released a final report.

In the same week that her new appointment was announced, the Stronger Communities Fund released the audit results. The audit found that in the $252 million commission grant project overseen by Berejiklian and then-deputy John Barilaro, 96 per cent of the funds went to voters controlled by the ruling coalition, while Berejiklian received $142 million through 41 projects.
