The Master of International Relations Studies (MSt) at the University of Cambridge is a part-time programme designed for adult students such as industry, teaching, civil service or the armed forces, but we also welcome recent graduates for postgraduate study. Developed jointly by the Department of Politics and International Studies and the School of Continuing Education, MSt offers a two-year part-time pathway to earn a full Cambridge master's degree. The learning approach is highly interactive and is designed to encourage reflection and debate. Participants are supported by a team of expert mentors and supervisors. Speakers, lecturers and facilitators are leading experts and practitioners from academia and industry. A key feature of the program is the collaborative learning experience. The program promotes shared learning among peers and builds connections with a wide range of contributors, collectively providing a rich learning environment. The approach and breadth of this course varies. Teaching takes the form of lectures and seminars on theoretical, political, historical, economic, legal, security and various regional and field studies, as well as individual thesis supervision. The teaching portion of this course is designed to enable students to fully and critically understand the various disciplines required for all the complexities of the field, as well as the methods designed to better understand the field. At the end of the course, students should: acquire the ability to critically apply the main theories, models, and concepts used in the study of international politics; develop an understanding and substantive knowledge of international politics, history, economics, and security; expand and develop their analytical, evaluative, and critical competencies; develop transferable skills, including the ability to take responsibility for their own learning, oral and written statements, plan and produce written assignments, work independently, and proficiency in the use of information technology; and develop the ability to study and write independently.
