Factors make charging difficult
On the eve of the Spring Festival, the traffic police of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, found that in the direction of Huangshan on the Lining Expressway, a new energy car broke down in the tunnel due to lack of electricity. After the police on-site understanding, the owner of the car, Mr. Xu, originally planned to charge in the nearest service area, but due to the large traffic flow, the charging bit in the service area was full, resulting in the failure to charge in time, and the vehicle broke down.
At the same time, the winter temperature is low and the power consumption is fast, especially when the new energy vehicle runs at high speed, the battery life is seriously discounted. Moreover, some high-speed service areas do not have charging facilities installed, and car owners need to charge at high speed. Mr. Lu, the owner of the Beijing car, told reporters: "During the Spring Festival holiday, from the city to Miyun, the car with a range of 301 kilometers just ran 100 kilometers and had about 30% of the electricity left, and it was inevitable to panic. "In addition, there are some charging piles that are damaged and not repaired in time, resulting in the owner not being able to charge or charging slowly, further exacerbating the charging problem during the Spring Festival."
Industry insiders believe that the growing demand for high-speed energy replenishment has magnified the gap in the energy replenishment system. By the end of 2021, the number of new energy vehicles in the country will reach 7.84 million, the number of charging infrastructure will be about 2.617 million, and the vehicle-to-pile ratio will be about 3:1.
New equipment such as emergency charging chambers have been introduced
In order to solve the problem of difficult charging electric vehicles during the Spring Festival, State Grid Shandong Electric Power studied countermeasures in advance and put into operation the country's first emergency charging cabin in the Dongping Service Area of Jiguang Expressway on January 21 this year. Zhang Huadong, director of the Zhidian Technology Division of the State Grid Shandong Electric Power Marketing Department, said that the emergency charging chamber is like a "giant charging treasure" that can alleviate the problem of mismatch between highway piles.
It is understood that the charging compartment is equipped with a single warehouse with a 360-kilowatt charging cabinet and 6 charging interfaces, which can meet the charging needs of 6 electric vehicles at the same time on the basis of the charging piles that have been built in the service area. According to the results of big data analysis, State Grid Shandong Electric Power was the first to build emergency charging cabins and connect to the Internet of Vehicles platform at three high-speed hotspot charging stations in the Dongping Service Area of Jiguang Expressway, Binzhou Service Area of Changshen Expressway and Shouguang Service Area of Rongwu Expressway to alleviate the pressure of Charging Services during the Spring Festival.
"From the platform data, during the Spring Festival this year, Shandong's high-speed charging network generated a total of 451,100 kWh of electricity, up 170.83% over the same period last year, up 24.66% from the previous 7 days." Zhang Huadong introduced that at present, the maximum charging power of a single charging port in the emergency charging cabin is 160 kilowatts, which can meet the charging needs of more than 150 vehicles.
The reporter noted that similar mobile emergency charging chambers were also put into operation at the Hunan Expressway. In this regard, Zhou Fatao, secretary general of the Guangdong New Energy Automobile Industry Association, said that these practices are worth learning from, which not only alleviates the problem of charging on holidays, but also avoids the problem of low utilization rate of charging piles.
In addition, on the eve of the Spring Festival, State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power deployed 7 mobile charging vehicles in the service area with large traffic flow and charging volume on the Beijing-Shanghai expressway. Each mobile charging vehicle has 4 30 kilowatts dc charging piles, the total charging capacity of 120 kilowatts, can provide uninterrupted charging services for 4 electric vehicles at the same time, the owner can scan the code charging through the e charging APP, and the conventional vehicle can be charged for 1 hour. Taking the Wuxi Meicun Service Area of the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway as an example, the station is equipped with two mobile charging vehicles, which provide charging services more than 100 times on the first day of appearance, and the charging power exceeds 2,000 kWh.
Multi-pronged improvement of energy replenishment efficiency
In order to solve the problem of electric vehicle charging, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration and other ten ministries and commissions recently jointly issued the "Implementation Opinions on Further Improving the Service Guarantee Capacity of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure", which proposes that by the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan", the charging guarantee capacity of electric vehicles in the mainland will be further improved, forming a moderately advanced, balanced layout, intelligent and efficient charging infrastructure system, which can meet the charging needs of more than 20 million electric vehicles. At the same time, the mainland will also speed up the effective coverage of the expressway fast charging network and accelerate the formulation of a phased coverage plan for the expressway fast charging network in various provinces.
In addition to the continuous improvement of the charging service network, Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the Association, suggested that in the face of fluctuating charging needs such as National Day and Spring Festival, as well as cross-regional travel with urgent needs for charging, the car owners should plan the line as soon as possible, and operators should do a good job in platform construction to achieve a combination of online and offline charging resources on the highway.
"The owner should have enough electricity before going on the high speed, and when the electricity has not been used up, he must find a way to charge it early, and at the same time, he can search for the empty position of the charging pile near the exit of the high-speed service area to achieve shunting and avoid waiting in line at the high speed for charging." Zhou Fatao said.

"As the number of new energy vehicles continues to grow, the charging infrastructure needs to be continuously optimized, especially the public charging pile should be highly capable and efficient." Cui Dongshu told reporters that the existing public charging pile does not need to blindly increase the amount, but should eliminate the old pile with slow charging speed as soon as possible, replace the fast charging new pile, and strengthen the construction of the charging infrastructure platform, use the platform to improve the symmetry of information, and provide convenience for car owners to charge.
