Gearbox Software's Borderlands 3 was released in September 2019 and it did a fantastic job. In Publisher Take Two's third quarter 2022 earnings report, the publisher confirmed that Borderlands 3 has sold more than 15 million copies to date. In November of last year, the number was just close to 14 million copies, and at the end of the year, the Epic store and several Steam promotions had good sales, breaking through 15 million in one fell swoop.
Interestingly, the second generation of the series, Borderlands 2, remains strong, selling more than 26 million copies to date, up from the previously reported 25 million sales, and remains 2K Games' best-selling game. At present, the overall sales of the Borderlands series have exceeded 74 million copies.
On March 25, Tina's Fantasy Lands, a spin-off game based on the Borderlands series, will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
