The Japanese woman who was abandoned by Guo Moruo gave birth to five children, all of whom made outstanding contributions to China

author:The Kirby Beast speaks history

Speaking of Guo Moruo, the evaluation of him by later generations can be said to be mixed, but it cannot be denied that he was an outstanding writer, historian and archaeologist on the mainland. Guo Moruo's life is quite legendary, and many of his works have become the basis for many historians to study modern history.

Like his complicated life, Guo Moruo's emotional history is also dazzling, and it is not an exaggeration to describe him as a gentleman. Guo Moruo's life has been in public love as many as five times, including three marriage experiences. And these three marriages are also much discussed by later generations, whether it is abandoning the original match, letting her stay at home widowed, or leaving his wife in Japan, so that she is bullied, so that Guo Moruo can not escape the word "scumbag". In the end, Guo Moruo and his third wife came to the end and became a topic of discussion.

I. Fruitless Old-Fashioned Marriages

Guo Moruo's first wife, named Zhang Qionghua, was an old-fashioned woman. Previous marriages were "the order of the parents and the words of the matchmaker", and this union was arranged by Guo Moruo's parents.

One day in 1911, Guo Moruo received a family letter saying that his mother had chosen a suitable wife for him. It was the daughter of a distant relative of his, and her mother had personally visited it, and she knew the book, showed her wisdom, and did not wrap her feet. At that time, Guo Moruo was influenced by the new ideas and had always scorned the bad habit of foot binding, so her mother felt that this girl should be able to meet Guo Moruo's wishes, so she gave the marriage. The parents' orders were not easy to disobey, although Guo Moruo was very reluctant, but he had to go home and get married.

On the fifteenth day of the first month of the old calendar in 1912, the twenty-year-old Guo Moruo married Zhang Qionghua. This is a marriage without feelings, and naturally there will be no good results. After only five days of marriage, Guo Moruo left his wife and left.

In 1939, Guo Moruo returned to his hometown, and in the face of the waiting wife, Guo Moruo bowed deeply to her and expressed his apologies. However, feelings are a matter of two people, and arranged marriages are still difficult to have results.

Although Zhang Qionghua was alone in the empty room, she did not complain about Guo Moruo in the slightest, and she treasured everything her husband had used and the letters she had sent. At home, Zhang Qionghua did everything a wife could do, honoring her in-laws and handling housework. Zhang Qionghua died in Leshan in 1980 at the age of 90, leaving no children.

Love at first sight, but separated by war

In August 1916, Guo Moruo, who was studying in Japan, met Tomoko Sato, a 22-year-old Japanese girl who was a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Tokyo.

Guo Moruo fell in love with this exotic woman at first sight and immediately launched a fanatical pursuit. Tomiko Sato had the same emotional experience as Kuo Moruo, she was born into a samurai family, and the family had been dating her for a long time, and did not ask her for her opinion at all. In order to escape marriage, Tomoko Sato ran away from home to become a nurse.

With the same experience, coupled with Guo Moruo's own talent, Sato Tomiko resolutely quit her job as a nurse and chose to marry Guo Moruo. This marriage was not recognized by the family, because If Guo Mo was Chinese, Sato Tomiko's father did not agree to the marriage. In a fit of rage, Tomoko Sato severed ties with the family, and Guo Moruo gave her a Chinese name, Guo Anna.

Guo Moruo and Guo Anna and the child

At that time, Guo Moruo was studying hard, and in order for her husband to succeed in his studies, Anna took on all the household chores in the family. Without the support of the family, the couple lived a very poor life, but Anna insisted bitterly and gave birth to four sons and a daughter for Guo Moruo.

In 1937, the international situation suddenly changed, and Japanese imperialism began an all-out war of aggression against China! Guo Moruo's thinking was greatly shaken, and Guo Moruo, who was eager to serve the country, resolutely chose to return to China to resist the war. Because Anna is Japanese, he chose not to quit, leaving his wife alone to take care of the five children.

After Guo Moruo left, he immediately threw himself into the anti-Japanese salvation movement. The Japanese authorities were very angry, and after learning that Anna was his wife, they immediately arrested Anna and tortured her severely, but Anna never chose to sever her relationship with Guo Moruo, and the Japanese authorities had no choice but to release her.

Anna's life after she was released from prison became more and more difficult, but she was very strong and struggled to raise five children.

It was not until the eve of the birth of New China that Anna got the news from Guo Moruo. Anna, who had the news of her husband, was ecstatic, and she came to China with her children in spite of all the resistance, looking for a husband, but at this time Guo Moruo already had a new marriage and family.

Guo Moruo has always been evasive of Anna's arrival, which makes Anna particularly sad. After Premier Zhou knew about it, he paid special attention to Anna and helped her become a Chinese citizen after the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Although the marriage between Guo Moruo and Anna did not usher in a happy ending, the children of the two made outstanding contributions to the socialist construction of the motherland.

The eldest son, Guo Hefu, is a well-known organic chemist and petrochemical engineer in the mainland; the second son, Guo Bo, is a counselor of the Counsellor's Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, a director of the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation, a member of the China Photographers Association, and the chief engineer of Shanghai Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd.; the third son, Guo Fusheng, is an engineer at the Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; the fourth son, Guo Zhihong, is a famous pianist in the mainland; and the eldest daughter, Guo Shuyu, is a professor of Chinese literature at the Literature Department of Kunshirokan University in Japan, actively promoting Chinese culture in Japan.

Third, the talented child with the beautiful person, accompanied to the final marriage

Guo Moruo's third wife was Yu Liqun, who was born a famous person and was a famous film star and calligrapher in the mainland. Her works are collected in museums such as Chairman Mao's Former Residence and Du Fu Caotang in Chengdu.

The love story between the two does not need to be repeated too much, and their combination has long been a topic of discussion. Guo Moruo poured all his love into Yu Liqun, which was Guo Moruo's last relationship, and the two accompanied each other to the end. After Guo Moruo's death, Yu Liqun devoted all his efforts to the publication of Guo Moruo's Collected Writings.

He is also a well-known doctoral supervisor and has trained a large number of physics talents for China.
