Drilling a well to fight drought is a normal thing, but in the process of digging a well, an accident occurred, the villagers dug out some terracotta pottery pieces, and later alarmed archaeologists to come to investigate, and finally let the terracotta warriors come out, a total of three burial pits were dug.
The three pits are arranged in the shape of "pin" characters, the location of the villagers' well is in the location of the No. 1 pit, and the museum still retains the traces of the villagers' wells, the No. 1 pit has the largest area, 13260 square meters, the No. 2 pit is 6000 square meters, and the No. 3 pit is relatively small, only 520 square meters.
From the discovery, to June 2009, the terracotta warriors after many excavations, experts estimate that there are more than 7,000 pottery figurines in the three pits, their height is generally about 1.8 meters, although only pottery figurines, but in the eyes of experts they are priceless.
The facial expressions of these terracotta figurines are lifelike, and the production process is even superior, none of the more than 7,000 terracotta figurines have the same facial expression, and what is more surprising to experts is that one of these terracotta figurines has not faded, and has always maintained the color of the excavation.
Many people may not know that the terracotta army was not originally earth gray, but colored, but after the excavation, the color was oxidized, and the disappearance of the color of the terracotta army could not be controlled, but on September 10, 1999, experts found a non-fading figurine when cleaning pit No. 2.
Experts call it "green face kneeling figurine", its shape is a soldier who shoots arrows on one knee, at that time, many of the soldiers around the green-faced kneeling figurine were brilliantly colored, but later they were slowly oxidized to lose color, only the green-faced kneeling figurine did not fade.
At first, experts also believed that it was a natural change caused by deep burial, but why the soldiers next to the green-faced figurines were discolored, so that it did not make sense, and later various speculations were overturned, and experts can not explain it reasonably.
This strange phenomenon has shaken the archaeological community, and has also become a major mystery in the terracotta warriors, why there is a green figurine in the "thousands of armies and horses", all kinds of speculations, but there is no evidence to confirm, as the only soldier that does not fade, the green figurine is extremely precious.
According to the director of the museum, the green-faced kneeling figurine is very strictly regulated and will not be easily exhibited, it is said that it was exhibited once in Taiwan, when the insurance price of the green-faced kneeling figurine was 111 million yuan, in a single terracotta warrior, it is the most expensive one, but its secret has not been explained so far.
