Scammers posing as Amazon employees defrauded $27 million from July 2020 to June 2021, unbelievable!

These crooks are part of a "business imposter" scam in which criminals impersonate so-called Amazon representatives – to trick money transfers.

Amazon impersonators stole $27 million in a year

According to the data, reports of Amazon impostors have increased fivefold over the past year. About 90,000 people have been targeted by Amazon-related scammers. Older people over the age of 60 face a greater risk, with victims losing almost twice as much as younger victims.

How do scammers operate?

Fake Amazon representatives call to ask about suspicious activity or unauthorized purchases on their accounts. Impersonating an Amazon worker asks (and has access to) a computer or phone to "fix" the problem and provide a refund. The imposter then paid an excessive refund and demanded a refund of the difference. Sometimes criminals beg for help and say they will be fired if they don't get the money.

Competitor spoof, the seller paid 500,000 yuan to kill!

Some time ago, a seller shared his experience of being spoofed by competitors on social platforms and claimed to be a 500,000 wanted murderer! Also be wary of other sellers who need to be cautious and careful.

First with the selling link, buy empty inventory for half a month. Competitors emailed me to stop selling products, otherwise they would continue to spoof my other products and buy out other well-sold links. At first, I thought it was just a verbal threat, but after I thought that other well-sold products in the store were really bought out.

Email the other person to tell them that we can lower the link ranking to no more than the other party, but the other party refuses to communicate and continues to spoof. Half a month later, the competitor stopped buying short, I thought he let go of my link, so I began to save the link, through the price reduction advertising to achieve more than 100 sub-categories.

Malicious parties take advantage of the seller's careless failure to register the brand trademark in time, so they first submit a trademark application, and then use various spoof "ways" to let the seller get on the road.

How to prevent trademark squatting?

1. Register the trademark as soon as possible

Sellers need to register overseas trademarks as soon as possible to protect their own interests.

2. Conduct defensive registration

Trademark protection is divided into classes, and it can be registered separately on the similar or non-similar goods categories of the trademark, and the trademark layout can be done to avoid infringement.

The peak season follows, so be prepared for it while keeping an eye out for competitive spoofs and the latest news. Hope to help all the sellers, and wish the sellers a high season!
