On February 9, citizens of Yichang, Hubei Province, found a porpoise with its tail entangled in a rope downstream of the Gezhouba No. 1 lock, and immediately reported to the Yichang Fishery Administration Supervision Detachment. Fishery rescue personnel quickly dispatched, maritime and other departments urgently cooperated with the dispatch, passing ships stopped sailing to give way to the "life channel", and finally successfully helped the porpoise out of trouble, avoiding the tragedy of "drowning". In recent years, with the improvement of the ecological environment of the Yangtze River, the number of finless porpoises in the Yichang River section has increased significantly, from 3 in 2012 to more than 17.
