The origin of the Lantern Festival
On the fifteenth day of the first month in 180 BC, Emperor Wen of Han ascended the throne and pardoned the world. In the future, every fifteenth day of the first month, the emperor will go out of the palace to play, put on the lights, and have fun with the people.
