IT House February 10 news, after facing a difficult regulatory environment, Nvidia abandoned the acquisition of Arm, but Arm's new CEO claimed that going it alone will not hinder future plans.

Arm's current owner, SoftBank, will go public for sale later in 2022. Although NVIDIA failed to complete the $66 billion acquisition, it will remain Arm's main customer.

In an interview with BBC News, Arm's new CEO Rene Haas spoke about returning to independence and how to shape the path to the future, saying he was very excited about the future.

"We are very excited about Arm's future as an independent company again, there is nothing that has to be done with NVIDIA."

IT House understands that Rene Haas blamed the failure of the NVIDIA acquisition on a challenging regulatory environment. Nonetheless, NVIDIA will continue to be Arm's 20-year license agreement customer.

Rene Haas, who is looking ahead to the high demand for semiconductors in other markets, points to two new directions, namely cloud computing and automotive.

"Both markets have seen tremendous growth and do have the same characteristics as smartphones," Rene Haas said. "They all need higher and higher computing performance, but they also need more and more efficiency – whether it's a data center that can input limited power, or an electric car that runs on batteries."
