Arm's new CEO: I'm excited to be able to become an independent company and live as well as Nvidia

After facing a difficult regulatory environment, Nvidia abandoned its acquisition of Arm, but Arm's new CEO claimed that going it alone would not hinder future plans.

Arm's current owner, SoftBank, will list Arm for sale later in 2022. Although Nvidia failed to complete the $66 billion acquisition, it will remain Arm's main customer.

In an interview with BBC News, Arm's new CEO Rene Haas spoke about a return to independence and how to shape the path to the future, saying he was very excited about the future.

"We are very excited about arm's future as an independent company again, there's nothing you have to do with Nvidia."

Rene Haas blamed the failure of the Nvidia acquisition on a challenging regulatory environment. Still, Nvidia will continue to be a 20-year license agreement customer for Arm.

Rene Haas, who is looking ahead to the high demand for semiconductors in other markets, points to two new directions, namely cloud computing and automotive.

"Both of these markets have seen tremendous growth and do have the same characteristics as smartphones," Says Rene Haas, "and they all need higher and higher computing performance, but they also need higher efficiency — whether it's a data center that can input limited power, or an electric car that runs on batteries." ”
