The current WBC/IBF sub-welters Spencer (27-0, 21KO) and WBA sub-welterweight Super Ugas (27-4, 12KO) sub-middleweight three-strip belt unification battle is officially finalized, and the match will begin on April 16 at the AT&T Arena in Arlington, Texas.
Spencer is known as the best boxer in the sub-middleweights, and he lives in Dallas where he will play his fourth match. He has been the IBF's 147-pound champion since 2017 and beat Sean Porter to win the WBC sub-middleweight title in 2019.
Spencer was scheduled to play against top eight-tier world champion Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas last summer, but Spencer withdrew from the race 11 days before the race due to a torn retina.
After Spencer withdrew, the unprepared Ugas took over Spencer in a short period of time to play Pacquiao and defeated Pacquiao with a decisive unanimous decision. Pacquiao retired after the game and Ugas won the biggest victory of his career.
Ugas, who was once the bronze medalist in boxing at the 2008 Olympics, wrote on his personal social media after the match was finalized: "It took me a year to sign this fight and (at the time) I was waiting for this statement. I am happy that I represent my people with a lot of humility, emotion and seriousness."
