Boxing legend/world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather expressed his interest in signing Terrance Crawford. Last year Crawford's contract with a top promotion company expired to become a freelance boxer, so Mayweather had the opportunity he "would love to sign" Terrance Crawford as his new promoter.
Last November, after Crawford defeated Sean Porter, he said he would not sign a new contract with Bob Arum's top promotion company. The WBO sub-welterweight champion even sued Arum for breaching his contract from 2011 to 2021, after a decade of working with top companies.
At present, Crawford has not signed a contract with any of the promotion companies, but Mayweather has expressed interest in having Crawford sign with its own Mayweather promotion company.
FightHype.com in an interview, the former superstar said: "It's like this — it's no different from Chinese supporting Chinese, Dominicans supporting Dominicans, Puerto Ricans supporting Puerto Ricans, Mexicans supporting Mexicans — I'm black American, I'm supporting a black American first."
"I've always wanted Terrance Crawford to get the best, always been, and we've said it on many occasions. I mean we have each other's phone numbers and hopefully everything goes the way it should, and of course, I'd love to sign Terrance Crawford. ”
If Crawford joins Mayweather Promotion, he will join professional boxers like Gervonta Davis, Angelo Leo and Rolando Romero as Mayweather.
Spencer and Crawford are the current welterweights, and Crawford has made it clear that his next opponent is Spencer. When Spencer immediately called Crawford after breaking Crawford's eye socket in hopes of starting a united war, Crawford responded on Twitter: "Congratulations on this great game, now the real game has begun." Don't say it, don't be across the street, let's go!!!!."
Spencer is currently signed with Premier Boxing Champions, which works closely with Mayweather Promotion, so the match could have been easy if Crawford allied with Mayweather.
The match between Spencer and Crawford will be the biggest battle in the sub-middleweights, Spencer has WBC, WBA and IBF titles, while Crawford will bring the WBO gold belt, and the winner between the two will be the undisputed first man in the sub-middleweights, neither Mayweather nor Pacquiao can do it.
