Born in 1998, Chen Zhiyi was blind in his right eye before the third grade of primary school, but his vision in his left eye was quite normal, and he could live and learn happily like other normal children.

She recalled: "The blackboard can't be seen clearly, and reading a book also requires holding a magnifying glass to see the words on it." In this way, she could only rely on listening to the class, and the notes written by the teacher on the blackboard were basically unable to read and copy. After the teacher knew the situation, he not only arranged a relatively front seat for Chen Zhiyi, but sometimes showed the notes to Chen Zhiyi after class. In addition, Chen Zhiyi will also borrow the notes of his classmates to copy between classes. Chen Zhiyi said that when he was in elementary school, his grades were OK, and he especially liked Chinese and liked to read literary works with a magnifying glass.
After entering junior high school, her eyesight was even worse. At the same time, there is more homework and more difficulty in learning. She said that especially in science subjects such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry, they must look at the teacher's blackboard calculus in class to better understand. But Chen Zhiyi still did not give up learning, but insisted. "During the summer vacation of the second year of junior high school, the math teacher asked us to re-do all the wrong problems in the math workbooks of the first and second grades." Although her eyesight was already very bad at that time, she still insisted on finishing it. She said that in 2016, the Huizhou Disabled Persons' Federation went to various counties (districts) to select seedlings to prepare for the Paralympic Games, and she was vaguely selected. "At that time, I felt that this was an opportunity, and I couldn't continue to be depressed because of the failure of the middle school entrance examination." In the city team, she practiced athletics in 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump. Because she has no foundation for exercise, she needs to pay more, for example, in terms of physical fitness, the amount of exercise is greater. Finding her goal again, she practiced hard according to the coach's arrangement. At first, her whole body ached, but she didn't complain and gritted her teeth and persevered. After hard training, she first represented Huizhou City in the Guangdong Provincial Disabled Youth Athletics Championships, and then represented Boluo County in the Huizhou City Games. In two matches, she won a gold medal and a silver medal.
These two games are actually the provincial coach in the selection. At the beginning, the provincial coach did not look at her, and it was the staff of the Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation who strongly recommended her, and she had a valuable trial opportunity. In the end, Chen Zhiyi seized this precious opportunity to become a cyclist in the provincial team.
