A CVS store manager in New York's safest neighborhood was stabbed while stopping store pickpockets

Police said that on Tuesday afternoon, a manager at a CVS pharmacy in Forest Hill, Queens, was stabbed by a store pickpocket who stole cough medicine and shampoo.

According to the New York Post, according to New York police, the incident occurred in a CVS store on 71st Avenue near Queen's Road in forest hills. The 44-year-old victim was attacked around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday when he tried to stop the thief from stuffing items into his black backpack.

Police said the suspect, who is believed to be in his 40s, also punched the employee in the face. Afterwards, the thief fled the shop on foot and was seen fleeing west on Queen's Road.

Police said the thief stole Nyquil, Dayquil cough syrup and Dove shampoo worth about $200.

The manager was taken to Presbyterian Hospital in Queens, New York, where he is in stable condition.

The serious theft has unnerved some residents of the area. Margaret Ruiz, who regularly shops at CVS, said it was the safest neighborhood in New York, at least the safest in Queens, and that she didn't feel safe anymore when such horrific incidents occurred, hoping the new mayor would do something about the crimes.
