Harrison Ford returned to the set of his fifth Indiana Jones film after being badly injured in June, interrupting production for several hours.
Photos taken On Monday and Tuesday depict the smiling 79-year-old action star wearing an iconic Indian leather jacket and hat frolicking on set with co-stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Antonio Banderas on castellammare del Golfo in Sicily, Italy.
Disney confirmed in a statement that the "Star Wars" actor has been in a state of shutdown so far after a shoulder injury while filming a fight scene in June.
"It wasn't what anybody expected, so having to change everything was a huge blow," the film's owner said at the time. Due to the severity of their injuries, they speculated that the production of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" would resume in the fall.
Thankfully, Ford seems to be in good shape, and this may be his last outing as a whip-wielding archaeologist.
Plot details of the as-yet-untitled film remain kept secret; however, as far as we know, 36-year-old Phoebe Waller-Bridge is joining Ford's scavenger hunts with the potential to become a partner in crime. Other actors include "Hannibal's" Madders Mickelson — who, according to sources predict, will play various villains — Antonio Banderas, Boyd Holbrooke (Narcos), Shoret Renee Wilson ("Black Panther") and acclaimed British actor Toby Jones.
The anticipated Raiders of the Lost Ark movie was originally scheduled to be released on July 9, 2021, but was postponed to July 29, 2022 after the pandemic stopped production in April. Then on Monday, with Ford returning, Disney announced that the release date was now June 2023.
