Because the main change line is far away from densely populated villages and towns, coupled with the large span of the section, Wang Wei's team is divided into 5 grid groups, and all the main change lines in Gaoyou are patrolled at the same time, which takes five or six days. And such regular patrols run through the year.

After discovering that the Oriental White Stork is a rare bird, the power grid people changed the "bird repellent" to "patrol line love birds", and helped the Oriental White Stork to settle down in Gaoyou by building "artificial toilets" and "artificial bird nests" to rescue the injured Oriental White Stork.
"At the beginning of this year, we want to do a complete set of observations of eastern white storks, from nesting, egg laying, hatching to the release of adult birds, we hope to study through a series of observations to better achieve the purpose of guarding the line and protecting birds." Wang Wei said.
Since the discovery of the first Oriental White Stork in Gaoyou territory in 2007, the number of Oriental White Storks on the Gaoyou Tower has developed from the initial pairs or two to nearly 200 now, and "guarding the line" and "loving birds" have become the daily work of power grid people. In December 2020, through the efforts of power grid people, Gaoyou became the second "Oriental White Stork Conservation Area" in the country.
