Sydney, February 8 (People's Daily News) -- On the occasion of celebrating the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger in China and welcoming the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Wellington College Chinese Cultural Centre and the New Zealand New Zealand China Understanding Association jointly held cultural activities with the theme of "Welcoming the Winter Olympics and Celebrating Spring and Happiness". A group of Oakland teenagers greeted this special moment by chatting about China's solar terms and drawing beautiful pictures of the Olympic Games.
At the event, a group of New Zealand teenagers aged 4 to 15, with the guidance and assistance of teachers and parents, participated in various re-creations of projects such as the Chinese 24 solar terms animated video released by the Cultural Center and the 2022 Northern Ice and Snow Season. Some give pure English dubbing; some use painting methods to create chinese festivals in their minds; and some use the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics as inspiration to create paintings showing the mascots of the Winter Olympics "Ice Pier" and "Snow Melting", ice and snow sports, and fun games in winter, which are full of fun and vitality.
At the same time, the teachers of the publicity and promotion agency of the New China Understanding Association combined the two hot keywords of the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Chinese New Year to guide the young students to use and present relevant ancient Chinese poems, historical stories and other materials according to their talents.
Regarding the winter festival, the young students thought of the tenacious character of the cold plum standing proudly in the snow without fear of the cold, quoted Wang Anshi's ancient poem "Plum Blossom", with the accompaniment music of the Chinese song "A Cut of Plum", which was once popular overseas, and recited it in Chinese and English with deep feelings; used Chinese and English bilingual to tell the customs of the Chinese New Year's Spring Festival, improvised the creation of "Good Luck Often Accompanied" and other contents, and had more understanding of the Spring Festival customs; when discussing the Gu Yu Festival, I happened to understand that this year's Gu Yu day is the "United Nations Chinese Day" determined by the United Nations. Feel the extraordinary charm of the motherland's writing from it.
In the process of learning the Spring Festival folklore, Sophia, a Chinese child, led the New Zealand friends to learn to make dumplings together, from the process of mixing dumpling filling, rolling dumpling skin to pinching the folds, she experienced the great pleasure of personally participating in the production of traditional Chinese cuisine, and while experiencing the Chinese Spring Festival folklore, joyfully greeted the arrival of the Year of the Tiger.
New Zealand children with a certain Chinese foundation, under the guidance of their teachers, try to use their zodiac signs to "say the tiger" in the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger to worship the New Year, associated with the characters in fairy tales, with vivid gestures, and perform vividly.
